Back Country Hot Tubs and Saunas Reviews (%countItem)

I purchase a sauna from this company in August and it arrived the last week of December. I was told multiple times it would take a maximum of six weeks to arrive, but in actuality it took sixteen.
I am fairly happy with the quality of the wood and other materials, but the instructions were not adequate and my calls asking for assistance were never returned.
If the company improves their communication, updates their timelines, and works on their instructions I could recommend them. For now I have to recommend people avoid them.

I decided to purchase a cedar hot tub from backcountry hot tubs. First of all the all the components came in a crate to be assembled with no paper instructions. After a somewhat frustrating assembly process I was made aware of the introductions posted online. The 52 page instructions were vague and a lot of the content was for different models and offered no real schematics for my model. Now the to get to the tub itself. Nice cedar no complaints about the wood. The stove however is made from thin steel and quite cheap looking/functioning. The three components that are used in the stove were not mentioned in the instructions and how they fit. Two metal prongs on the draft lid were too long and thus the lid did not seat properly onto the stove creating a very smoky poorly drafting stove. I used the hot tub for the first time at night and didn’t noticed the nasty amount of creosote that ran down the chimney pipe into the water. The water was almost black and the chimney pipe was clogged at the top from only ONE fire. After calling about my many issues with the tub I was offered almost no help and was instructed to fix the lid myself by reheating the prongs myself with a torch and bending them properly which I declined. After requesting a new one or mine to be fixed I was not given any information regarding shipping and was ultimately ignored. All in all this has been one of my most regrettable purchases of my life and a costly one at that. The whole thing sounds good in theory but cheaply made components and poor customer service means you should be going anywhere but here for a hot tub. Also the cover is a bad design and doesn’t seal to the tub very good . It’s basically a $*** do it yourself project with no guarantees

This company is long on promises and short on delivery. It took 12 weeks not the promised 4 - 6 for delivery of our order. It was the wrong size tub when it arrived but we took it believing we would never see a replacement. No human ever answers the phone, they replied to 1 out of five of our phone messages, rarely do they answer emails. We did get some help by phone after leaving emails expressing our dismay at how the tub was going together.
There were some missing parts in the shipment, there was no documentation or warranty information, the online instruction manuals in some cases bear only a passing resemblance to the parts that are sent. It takes 3 - 4 days to build the tub not the 1 or two mentioned in the literature. They don't say anything about how it takes a week to season the tub so it won't leak. We ran through our 1000 gallon rainwater tank before the tub finally stopped leaking.
The instructions are out of date with their current best practice, we were told on the phone, "don't do what the instructions say, do this"
The external stove as supplied is too small to heat the volume of water in the tub so that we have only ever been able to have a warm tub, not hot. We are currently trying to get a refund on the stove portion of the cost because the stove doesn't work.

We bought a hot tub almost a year ago. It took over 15 weeks to deliver (they stated 4-6 weeks). The whole time they ignored messages, emails, and phone calls and we thought we got robbed. There were a few missing and broken pieces upon arrival. After trying to get the company to resend the necessary items (which they said they would) we ended up going to the hardware store and purchasing $***+ worth of materials that should have been included. They didn't send anything. Once the tub was constructed the stove started leaking after a couple uses due to poor welding construction. It's been months and months of us trying to contact them and they ignore our calls and emails. They reached out once after I left poor reviews on multiple platforms. They said they would send a new stove if we removed our reviews but they did not follow through. Now we are back trying to contact them 19 days after they said they'd send the stove. It's been almost a year now since we purchased the unit and we have only used to the tub a handful of times. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced - It's too bad it has to be with a company selling $***+ hot tubs. We now have a $*** lawn ornament.
