Buyer BEWARE
Just buried my ball python. It arrived alive but with 48 hours it had passed. After being interrogated through numerous emails requesting photos and investigating the situation I was told I am not due a refund because I should NOT have gone through with my order if I did not like their shipping policy! I did like their shipping policy but I would think after all these satisfied customer reviews they would acknowledge the animal wasn't healthy and refund or offer to send another at no cost! BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE! It will be interesting to hear what the Attorney General's office has to say!

Terrible service.......
I ordered a smooth-fronted caiman in July. I still havent received it yet. At the time they stated they didnt have anymore, however, the website still showed them as available. After about a month, they were readily available on their website again, so I asked them can they send me my caiman since they had already taken the funds out of my account in July. They gave me another excuse about the ones listed on the site werent hatchlings, but were juveniles, and I could get one if I paid an extra $125. I said no, I wanted a hatchling...so they said they'd get some by the end of the month. (keep in mind its September by this time). Once again, the website said they had hatchlings available...so I asked them to please send me my caiman. The response was..."Oh this was a custom order, you can get one if you pay an extra $200. We'll let you know when we get more in at the price that you paid for." I'm so sick of the excuses of why I cant get the animal I paid for 5 months ago. I guess i'll just ask for a refund next week. I wonder if I'll get as many excuses about a refund as I have about them sending me a caiman that i've already paid for? I will never use them again. I'd have quicker service if I flew to South America and captured a caiman my damn self.

Purchase of 2 'female' Anole lizards
First off, one of the 'female' Anole's that came was very big---big head, red dewlap. I have heard that occasionally the females will have a dewlap so I thought I'll try--surely reptile people know more than I (?). Obviously not. I put them in with my male and the fight was on. The males were puffed up, wide open mouthed and biting, brown--the juvenile and/or female hid for all she was worth and turned a horrible 'oh no I'm gonna die' shade of brown/black. I did not know that Anoles could be so ferocious. So strike 1--at least 1 of the 2 'females' they sent was male. Although Meg stated that they don't guarantee the sex, a small child could've figured this one out. At the local pet shop they sell these Anole's for $5.99 each, but I wanted to know for sure I was getting 2 females. Just go to your local pet store. You'll have at least as good of a chance (50/50). 2nd, the morning shipping is untrue. I called UPS several times and finally got them to divert the driver for 3:40 P.M. delivery. In Texas heat. 103 degrees real feel that day. It's amazing that they survived--they were very hot. The driver informed me that he could've delivered up until 8 p.m. had he not been diverted by my phone calls. The box was somewhat smashed also so they were 2 very lucky lizards all in all. NOT a good shipping method for $42.00. Meg had no good answers for any of this, which is why I feel compelled to leave a review. Had she been somewhat accommodating, even apologized or commiserated, I may not have left a review at all. Note to self---NEVER AGAIN. (I wish I could leave 0 stars)

We bought a translucent veiled chameleon he is doing great. He started eating within an hour after getting here. We were amazed at how small he was. Very happy with Backwater reptiles

We purchased a Russian Tortoise, for our daughters, from this businessOnce we got him he was in boxes with no air holes (they say to keep the Reptile warm) and smelled awful! He arrived very ill, I wrote them, the gave me suggestions to tryI tried for weeks before our Tortoise passed awayI wrote them and they said "sorry, we only guarantee live animals for days" we tried everythingMy children are so upsetThis company is sending ill animals, knowing they won't make it and made me tough it out so they didn't have to refund my money (or send me another Tortoise)It has been the worst experienceThis has to be animal cruelty

This customer filed a Revdex.com complaint before they even contacted usWe said that any DOA frog was covered under our guarantee programShortly thereafter she said she cancelled the Revdex.com complaint, which I don't see reflected here

As you stated in your email, my wife insisted that someone call her about the matter Upon speaking with your customer sales team she explained how there were no holes in the box for the snake to breathe You explain how you have professional packagers and I am telling you there was no way for the snake to breathe You can repeat all you want, but there was no holes for the snake to breathe YOUR COMPANY DID POOR PACKAGING AND SENT US A SNAKE IN POOR CONDIDITON THAT DIED! Even as you just stated, you want us to order another snake and have us pay for shipping How do you not offer to even cover half the shipping fee? This is poor customer service and you are more in denial than helping me, the customer, work on a solution.You company is poor customer service once there is an issue You are completely helpful to sell your product, but not stand by it You failed on this packaging order, and fail to work with the customer to make it right

I am rejecting this response because:The day after the complaint was filed the snake died I will gladly dig it up from the grave my year old made for it and send the corpse back for a full refund The snake died because it was not healthy It also did not feed several times before The veterinarian who specializes in exotic animals that examined it said that even if it had been born the very day he examined it, it would have been considered underweight and small for it's species.It is not the first complaint they received about a snake of this species, one was previously filed for the one they sent before that also died Since the death of this lovely little snake, we have acquired another from a local breeder, that is eating, and thriving in exactly the same housing, with the same care criteria as any other snake I have ever owned, including the one we acquired from Backwater Reptiles Again, if they find it necessary I will dig up Twinkle Toes (I may be able to locate the first one as well though I am not sure in what condition it will be in, and send them the dead snake.I would like a full refund for the second snake, not because I don't deserve one for both, but because I am willing to split the responsibility after making the mistake of buying from them twice.Thank you

Our order delivered to us dead It is the same as being delivered a defective item.I work in customer service, and we always credit 100% of an order if we make a mistake If we have poor packaging, then we take full responsibility and make it right We were willing to do anything in order to refund our money, and all Backwater Reptile did was argue against us being refundedMy wife was even willing to have another snake sent out, and Backwater said she would have to pay another shipping fee to send out a replacement snake.I am open for any more responses from themPlease let me know what next step would be I do not want other people to get burned as we have Instead of helping us get refunded, they decided to come to this

I am rejecting this response because: At no point that day did we get down to degrees, they are simply using a generic high/low average for their argument Setting that point aside, the tarantula arrived fine and at NO point was it outdoors except to go from the UPS truck to my wife hand My wife even commented that the package was still warm from their shipping warmers The tarantula was then taken to a temperature controlled terrarium where it stayed in it's shipping vial until I got home The tarantula was then introduced into its small space terrarium where it did just fine for a couple days; it ate and acted like everything was fine until the morning it was discovered dead I have had similar issues with this company in the past and I tried to give them one last chance but they are still the wrong company that doesn't do the right thing There are many complaints on the Revdex.com site, their [redacted] site, and many other sites that show this same behavior from them I simply want to get my money back and move on from this company and never do business again

since this all occurred, backwater fully refunded my moneyI offered to return their baby roaches if they provided shipping label and container to which they didn'tthey offered for me to keep them, so I didthis matter has been settledI would not ever use them again for poor conduct, but they did refund my money which they would have had to do anyway because I was going to dispute it through my credit card companymore than I can say for some of the other reviews I read where the people just were out of luckLesson: use a credit card when you purchase online; you have security when you do that because the cc company can advocate for you if you should have a disputethank you for refunding my money

Our website contains specific wording urging all customer to check their local regulations with respect to any potential species restrictionsThe reason for this is that it's literally impossible to know every city, municipality, county or state rule for some speciesWe offered the customer to ship it back for a refund which they refused

We shipped a bullfrog, which was healthy and strong, to this customer via [redacted] overnight deliveryThe frog arrived DOA and we promptly, and at no cost to her, shipped what she requested as a replacement, which was a Pacman frogThat frog arrived alive.We actually made a huge exception for this customer, in that we didn't charge her the usual $for replacement shipping, as all reptile companies doWe shipped a replacement absolutely free of chargeI am shocked at this demand for a refund of the original orderWe went above-and-beyond for this customer and she responds with a Revdex.com complaintWe cannot refund the original purchase, for obvious reasonsIf she wants to ship the replacement frog back to us, we can process a refund of the original transaction

I ordered 40$ worth of Dubai roaches weeks ago and still have not received them! I have asked them to resend another order and they refused saying my package arrived on Thursday which it clearly didn't or I wouldn't be writing this reviewI checked at the post office and their was no order for meOnly thing I can think of is maybe someone stole the package off my porch, but who would steal [redacted] roaches?
