I wish I would have read that 1 review before entering into a contract with this [redacted]! He stole over 10K from us not doing any work and fleeing Virginia. He has made no attempt to give us our money back and we believe he never had any intention of building our deck. I know he's not in business any more, but if anyone encounters LEE A[redacted], call the cops...because I am in the process of getting him on criminal charges and he will get what he deserves.

I had the displeasure of entering into a contract with this business back in June of 2013. The next 9 months of working with the [redacted] and his constant lies were unbearable. Review: We hired the [redacted] to perform services at our property in May of 2013. The [redacted] was hired with the expectation that the work would be complete by July 4th, 2013. This did not happen. The [redacted] clearly did not meet the scope of work as outlined in our signed contract and ended up walking off of the job. Not only did we over pay and are seeking a refund but Backyard Oasis ended up using 7 different crews on our backyard and still could not complete the job satisfactorily to say the least. I/we are happy to provide the contract and images for the Revdex.com review if needed. Was supposed to have 4 skylights in the porch area and only installed three, was supposed to use steel supports and instead used wood, left cigarette butts and empty cans and trash all over our yard. Damaged our driveway. We had three different subs come to our home looking for money as [redacted], the [redacted], was not paying them at all. He is unprofessional and not worthy of an A Revdex.com rating. As a large business owner and Revdex.com rated company for years this is a true travesty to even have him listed on the site. Again, whatever information is needed to assist in preventing further damage to the general public I am happy to provide to you and assist in whatever way that I can. I have photos, contracts, video, and statements from vendors.Desired Settlement: We are hopeful that the Revdex.com will list our complaint against this business and publish it so that others in [redacted] are not subject to the same service and issues that we were. In our humble opinion this business should have a rating of D or F and not an A.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

Below is my company's response to the issues of complaint made by this customer.

Originally there was a goal of completing the project by July 4. However, there were two contractors on site working in the same area, which did in fact cause delays. Still the customer repeatedly said it was more important to them that the work be done "right" rather than keeping to a specific completion date.

We did not walk off the job. We were "fired." When the wife was not happy with the decking installed, we agreed to replace the deck, but only if the cost of the new decking was deducted from the [redacted] still owed us. The customer refused to agree to this, stating they planned to hire another contractor. At this point we were not going to work out our disagreements, even though the project was 98% complete. It is our position the customer owes us money.

The charge that 7 different crews worked on site is not completely accurate. On a job this size different crews are used for different work. The end result is we worked diligently to complete this project and with the highest standards. A [redacted] was on this job throughout. Any issues that needed correcting were always addressed and corrected. Often we went beyond what was required by contract to make this customer happy, such as taking down a vinyl ceiling and running it in the opposite direction because she didn't like how it looked. We repurchased new ceiling at our expense to make her happy.

Regarding steel vs. wood support. The county has passed all framing inspections and work. The customer agreed there was no problem using [redacted]'s instead of steel. As for the fourth skylight, installing this light proved too difficult with the roof design. The customer and our company came to an agreement to reduce the price by [redacted] for this change.

There was never a mention of any damage to the driveway.

A dumpster was kept on site for trash, as well police calls were performed regularly to keep the job site clean.

When we left the project all subs had been paid to date or were scheduled to be paid.

So far as the customer complaining they paid too much for the work. This charge is frivolous as all parties involved are educated, competent individuals and in this case both husband and wife hold [redacted]. They were never coerced to agree to anything against their free will.

Our company has serviced dozens of homeowners throughout the [redacted] area, always striving to go above and beyond what is required to satisfy our customers. Unfortunately, these complaints are either inaccurate or not in keeping with all the facts. We do want to emphasize the customers making this complaint are fine, well meaning people. Throwing us off the job site was, in our opinion, a mistake as we were best qualified to finish up this project within budget. At this point we are consulting our attorney as to how to settle monies still owed us.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond,

Sincerely,
