Review: New furnace was installed in April of 2014. Furnace wasn't heating house properly less than a year later on New Year's Eve. When we called to ask for service, we were told we would have to pay a $`169.00 service fee because it was a holiday, even though the furnace was still under warranty. We refused and had to wait 2 days with the weather in single digits, before they sent a repairman free of charge. He claimed to have fixed the problem, but 3 days later, after returning from work, I discovered the house to be very cold and the furnace was once again not functioning properly. Upon calling to request service, we were informed that there would be a service fee because it was after hours or we would have to wait until morning. It was -1 degree outside at the time and supposed to get even colder. We requested that the repairman call [redacted] and ask that an exception be made to the service fee since this was the 2nd time in 5 days that the new furnace malfunctioned and should have been fixed the first time the repairman came. [redacted] refused our request not to be charged so we had to wait until morning to have someone come out to look at the furnace. This is not a company I would recommend ever since they do not stand behind their product and are not willing to service the furnace when it is necessary without a charge. People can't choose when their furnace malfunctions and the warranty should be in effect with no service fee at any time during the warranty period.Desired Settlement: Change this ridiculous policy and provide repairs free of charge whenever the malfunction occurs during the warranty period.

I have read and reviewed your complaint. I understand the frustration with something recently purchased and it doesn't work as expected. The new furnace went into lockout mode for three hours before restarting again and was able to keep your home heated to maintain house temperatures in the 60's, despite outdoor temperatures being near zero, but not at the temperature that you desired. A benefit of the new furnace that was installed in your home is that the furnace will restart itself on its own. Our salesman stopped by recently to explain the reason why it happened with the source being with the existing duct work that is located within the finished part of the basement. Regarding the complaint about the warranty procedures, it is stated in your warranty papers from the factory that warranty work does not cover overtime service. With that said, we provide warranty emergency

service after hours if needed at a reduced charge. Until the factory changes its warranty policy, regretfully our policy will remain the same.Regards,[redacted]

Review: had service done on my furnace on 12/31/15( less than 90 days ago) had motor replaced for $499.95 and also paid $79.95 for diagnostic fee! Called today 3/18/16 because my furnace is not working I can hear furnace click on but not running, same as before ( blower out) and they want me to pay another $79.95 to come out again, plus whatever fees for any other services!! My service order invoice states that all labor and parts are under warranty for 1 year.

Customer had inducer motor replaced on 12/31/15. Then called 3/18/16 having no heat on her furnace. She was quoted for the service call plus repairs if unrelated to the earlier work and was told there would be no charge if the exact same component failed. Appointment was scheduled for later in the morning. Within minutes after scheduling the appointment, she called back, cancelled the appointment then cursed the dispatcher with repeated "F-bombs" then hung up the phone.

Review: In Feb 2013, Burkhardt HVAC installed a new heating boiler. The installation of the new unit was moved to the left of the original. A few days ago the water heater failed, and I called a licensed plumber for service. The plumber arrived and noticed that the boiler was now too close to the HVAC unit to allow the old water heater to be removed. I called Burkhardt, I and the plumber both spoke to the receptionist. The owner finally got on the phone and demanded $1200 to correct the flawed installation, then called the plumber incompetent, and began swearing at me. I calmly told the owner to stop yelling at me, and that I would be contacting the Revdex.com, Angie's list, and my attorney. This infuriated the owner, who then threatened that this would go through HIS attorney and would be tied up for months, leaving me and my wife, my [redacted], and my newborn without hot water "for a long long time". His insults to me and the plumber continued, in the presence of the plumber. I sent the owner pictures, showing the issue. He replied via email that we could "lift the old unit" up and out of the way, and cut the old one out. I replied that the old unit would not fit given the proximity of the new electrical and plumbing for the boiler.Desired Settlement: Boiler moved to its original location, at no cost to me, to allow the water heater to be installed.

Response:

Complaint resolved by removing a couple of screws and s-clips on return drop of furnace.

Something a competent plumber like the one we recommended would have done. But this homeowner chose another plumber, who couldn't figure out how to do his installation. So he just blamed our boiler installation (which passed inspection) for his inability to figure out how to install the new water heater and left the jobsite and our homeowner without hot water. This caused our customer to get upset at us unnecessarily and levying this complaint prematurely.

To whom it may concern,

I am truly at a loss on why this complaint is continuing.

After our service technician, [redacted] removed the couple of screws and s-clips on the drop of the nearby furnace to fit in the new water heater, the homeowner told him "If I would have known it was that simple, I would have done that myself". Our technician also explained why the boiler needed to be moved, it was because per code, the homeowner needs access to the chimney cleanout. The homeowner acknowledged and appeared to understand why the boiler needed was moved. With the homeowner being explained to and acknowledging why things were done the way it was, we thought this issue was over.

Regarding the permit, normally when we receive a permit back a municipality, it is done only after an inspection was completed. I assumed the inspection was done.

Sadly, there would not have ever been any issues regarding his new water heater or boiler, if the homeowner would have had the work done with the plumber we recommended. Still, this whole situation would have and could been averted if the plumber he chose could have figured out for himself, "something so simple, the homeowner himself could have done it". The irony is a plumber who couldn't figure out how to do this water heater installation himself, is the same who bashes our boiler installation, and this homeowner continues to believe this plumber.

Yet, if the homeowner still insists on the boiler being moved, even though it doesn't need to be, we will still offer to do it for $1200.00.

Review: An HVAC professional did not provide us a quote of his services before charging us as promised by a company representative. We did not get an itemized list of what the charges were for.Desired Settlement: I do not feel I should be charged for labor since their worker failed to comply with their company's policy to provide a customer with a quote before work is to be done.
