First of all lets not miss that the premise of the this complaint to the Revdex.com was totaly by stating that Badger Homes would not warranty the siding and the installation of the siding on the *** homeNow in the *** responce they do state we did warranty our work and the product installed on the home during the time and conditions of our warranty. Face Fasting (nailing) of the siding is an approved method of instalation by ***, therefore making the statement of improper instalation again totaly and I would question the the person integrity who said face nailing was not a proper method of installationAttached is a copy of the Face Fastening instructions from ***.*** is making settelments with people who had *** Fiber Cement siding products installed on their homes as the *** now state in their last responceIf they want more money they should go after *** not Badger HomesI guess its easy to go after Badger Homes rather than ***I still believe that this is a bully technique to try to squeeze money from Badger Homes for somthing we had no control of or no knowledge of and *** is acknowledging they did have a problem with the product The way I see it this complaint is not based in fact but on statements and ideasFact: we did warranty the install and siding inside our warranty guide linesFact: the siding was installed properlyFact: *** has offered a settelment to the ***With all these facts I find this somewhat tedious and corrupt actions by the ***All this was explained to the *** in a lengthy phone call prior to thisBadger Homes Reserves the right to persue any legal actions to clear or rectify any damages that may result as to any flase claims as to this matter made aginst Badger Homes In the end we are sorry that *** has had problems with their Fiber Cement siding, but in no way should statements and ideas rule in this matter

Badger Homes warranty of the instalation of the siding is only for 1 year, not 7 years, so this is clearly outside of our warranty. The [redacted] have the opportunity and option to pursue any warranty claims through the manufacture of the siding. Its not the easiest thing, but people are having success....

If the [redacted] think they can bully Badger Homes in to replacing their siding by writing the Revdex.com they are sorely mistaken. The [redacted] have miss repersented the facts as to their complaint. Badger Homes postion is that the siding was installed correctly and to the standards of the siding manufacture. Badger Home Builders has in the past and will continue to help the [redacted] with the warranty pursuit through the manufacture. I even think the manufacture has made a warranty offer to the [redacted], one they did not like I guess so lets bully the builder into repacing the siding. I believe the [redacted] have miss repersented the facts as to their complaint and might have withheld some too.

Morning:My wife and I have reviewed the response from Badger and do not agree with it. Yes, there is a one year warranty but we did e-mail Badger in February of 2008, within the one year warranty, to complain about the siding still being loose and banging against the house. There was an obvious problem with the installation and they recognized that by sending a crew to our house and then nailing the siding to the house instead of re-installing the siding properly. Our siding now has nails on the face of it with the nail heads painted over them. The paint over the nail heads make it look our home has polka dots. Plus, when we have had siding contractors look at the siding to get an estimate for replacement, the first thing they say to us is "who put these nails in the siding"? It was obviously not the proper thing to do. We know there was a re-call on the siding installed by Badger. The class action lawsuit and the settlement reached by the courts to replace our siding will only pay us about 20 cents on the dollar for the actual cost of replacing the siding. The estimates to replace our siding is $15,000 to $20,000. The most we would get back in the lawsuit settlement is around $3,600. My wife and I still feel that there is some responsibility on the part of Badger since they are the ones that recommended the siding for our house and did not install it properly. My wife and I have contacted Badger and asked them to sit down with us or even come out and look at the house and the nails in the siding. They have not agreed to do this. Since we contacted Badger within one year of us moving into the house, we feel there is some warranty responsibility due from Badger. A sit down with them would be nice.

The fact is that the siding was installed as to the installation instructions from the manufacture. Certainteed has provided a warranty settelment to you and if you dont like that settelment I would go tell Certainteed that you are not happy with the settelment. If Badger Homes installed the siding wrong I do not believe that Certainteed would offer any settelment at all. I would think Certainteed would try to find any reason to not pay out on a warranty claim. This entire complaint is totaly based on pointing the blame on the install and not the product. Unfortunately Certainteed offered a product with a better warranty than its competitors and that product did not perform as advertised. What you are now seeing on your house is the sidings performance and not a install problem. All this was explained to you in the phone call you and I had and we are going in circles. You are complaining that the siding was installed wrong but offer no factual evidence how it was intalled wrong. I have offered factual evidence that the siding was installed correctly. All I have is the facts and if anything I stated and or have done is not factual you will need to prove it. Offering threats of misrepresenting the facts to one of my customers is beyond just a miss statement of the facts but a downright mischeivious act on your part. It would be proper to show people your problem and you state the siding did hold up but to say Badger Homes installed it wrong is misrepresenting the facts.

I again disagree with Badger that nailing loose siding to the house is acceptable. If it is acceptable, I would be happy to have any future Badger clients come to our house and look at the nailed siding and paint job to cover the nails and see if they would accept this. A picture is worth a 1,000 words. I would be happy to contact a Badger client that is currently building a home in [redacted] to look at our home and let them know this is the quality of work Badger does. If Badger says their work is done very well, they should then feel fine with their [redacted] client to look at our home. We're willing to invite them over to our house any time.

They have been extremely rude and have refused to come out and repair the work they did on our home.

Review: We built a house with Badger Builders in 2007. The siding that was installed was faulty. They came out to repair and put numerous nails throughout the siding, then painted over the nails. The siding now looks terrible because of dots. They are blaming faulty siding, but they are the ones who put nails all over the house and painted. Took numerous calls to [redacted] to even talk with him, and he refuses to take care of the problem.Desired Settlement: Install new siding

Review: Advised by Badger Home Builders that there is "significant" sinking of our home. After several requests, Badger did come to our home to inspect, and even though they did promise to send a report of their findings, to date, we are yet to receive a report from them regarding the damage to our home. We have sent them at least three certified letters, however, they refused to respond.Desired Settlement: We respectfully request Badger inform us, in writing, of the following:

1. What their findings were upon inspection of the cracking?

2. What damage is covered under warranty? If none, why?

3. What they are willing to do to rectify the issues that we are currently having, namely the cracking, siding fading color and the foundation (House sinking)?

4. A copy of the warranty, specifically as it pertains to all of the above

5. Make all of the repairs needed

Response:

An

inspection was done at the [redacted] home involving the drywall cracking in the

dinette bay. What was found is that the fully exposed basement, the area of the

dinette bay was damaged due to frost heaving the footing up and not from Badger

Homes workmanship defect. It was found that water was running back to the home

due to improper pitch of the landscape / hardscape so to allow the water to

flow towards the home. Due to the improper pitch away from the home water was

redirected back to the foundation and to pool up against the foundation, then

the harsh winter of 2013 / 2014 (worst and coldest in 83 years according to news

reports) froze the water and lifted the footings. It was observer at the time of

the Badger Home Builders inspection that not only the dinette bay bump out had a

frost heave but also the concrete patio just to the outside of the dinette bay

bump out was badly damaged due to the frost. The patio was broken and lifted

over 3" above the base of the patio door. Clearly not a workmanship defect of

Badger Home Builders but to be more of a problem with maintaining proper pitch

away from the foundation and the harsh winter of 2013 / 2014.

We built with Badger 8 years ago and it was our first building experience. Looking back they missed making important suggestions regarding lighting especially. We had to install lighting over counter, upstairs bathroom and hallway after the house was completed. They had built our model numerous times so they should of known where lighting was needed. In addition, our biggest complaint, was the siding they sold us was subject to a recall. Before we knew this, we had to have Badger out to repair it because it was loose. Badger nailed the siding down, and left us with silver nail heads showing all over our house. When we complained Badger came out and
painted over the nail heads, so the house now has polka dots, Numerous calls went unanswered and finally after getting through Badger refuses to come out and even review their work and repair it. We have had a siding company out for estimates, and they are appalled at Badgers work. Our biggest complaint is Badgers customer service. They are of the opinion when you are done building with them, they are done with you. Thank you Revdex.com, for this forum to express our concerns with Badger and hopefully other people building will review this.
