I got four or five estimates for replacing my shingle and rubber roofs last year and I ended up going with BadgerlandI'm so glad I did! Their price was great, they had lots of colors of shingles to choose from, the estimator was friendly and helpful, and the men who did the work were absolutely phenomenal!! They took the time to do the job right and went out of their way to get everything done for me, including coming back on a Saturday to finish tying up the loose endsAfter they finished my flat rubber roof and blew it off for me, they even blew off my patio! Super nice guys who made my roof look incredible! Can't say enough positive things about them and about this companyEven the billing lady was very pleasantI would, and have, recommend them to everyone and anyone!

DO NOT trust this company!!! We had a horrible, horrible experience with themFirst we met with their representative, ***, out of their Wausau officeHe was the only employee that we had any contact with from BadgerlandHe was smart, trustworthy, and exceptional to work withWe signed the contract with Badgerland on 5/23/14, and wrote out a check for our down payment which was $10,Work did not start on our basement until 6/11/On 6/13/the representative that we had worked with, *** was let go from Badgerland for not seeing eye-to-eye with the ownerYou see, many corners wanted to be cut and *** could not agree to this, knowing that the job would not be done correctly***, the owner, contacted us on 6/and spoke to my husband for less then minutes*** stated that *** was no longer with the companyMy husband stated to *** that we felt comfortable with ***, so that we would be sticking with him to finish the project*** stated that he understood and that he would refund us our remaining down paymentAfter calling a couple of times asking what the status of our refund was, we were finally emailed a breakdown on 7/which stated the following:
DOWN PYMT 5/27/$ 10,KC Home Improvement $ 2,680.00) *** $ (750.00)
Menards $ (1,093.04)
Permit $ (236.60) *** $ (968.96)
Mark up $ (1,493.58)
DUE BACK To CUSTOMER $ 2,For three days of framing, this seemed a little extremeThey wanted us to pay for *** commission, and *** was an office manager who they wanted us to pay for her “referral bonus,” plus a markup on top of it allWhen asked for an explanation we received the following from their CFO, Patti:
“The mark up is to cover the cost of our overhead associatedIt is our usual practice to charge a fee when a customer cancels a signed contract after the allotted day periodAs Badgerland has already put time and money into this project, we have to charge some sort of feeAs this project was canceled due to unusual circumstances with a previous sales rep, a fee is a requirement on our behalfAs this is a unique situation as you decided to go with a competitor who used to represent Badgerland for this specific project, I am sure you can appreciate Badgerland's positionI hope this helps clarify these numbers for youPlease let me know if you have any further questions or ***.”
So from what she stated, we were getting penalized by staying with *** “As this project was canceled due to unusual circumstances with a previous sale rep, a fee is a requirement on our behalfAs this is a unique situation as you decided to go with a competitor who used to represent Badgerland for this specific project,” Also, shouldn’t your employee’s salary’s part of “overhead?”
After many emails back and forth we asked that we speak directly to *** They wanted us to drive from Wausau to their main office in Waupaca to meet with himWe stated that we signed with the company at their Wausau office and that we expected them to meet with us thereThat’s when we found out that they closed the Wausau office after *** was terminatedAgain after many emails back and forth we agreed to a meeting via phone*** contacted us on the scheduled date and time, but was in his CAR and could not go over the contract since he was driving! How disrespectful! After a quite heated disagreement on what we should and should not have to pay for, He stated to us that he could do whatever he wanted with our money, laughed at us at one point, told us to take him to court, and was extremely disrespectfulAt one point when I called him out on his lack of customer service, his response was “you’re not my customer anymore”
After unsuccessful negotiations, we ended up taking Badgerland to courtWhen we were to show at trial, the first time, *** was a no show, which gave us an automatic judgment in our favorBut *** fought that stating that he never saw the court paperwork with the time and date on it, even though the court commissioner handed it to him and our lawyer at the very first court hearing! So once again, we had to go back to courtWe were then able to acquire *** and *** to testify on our behalf in regards to how the “bonuses” or normally paid out, and also that *** had bluntly stated, in earshot, that they had to pay *** her bonus to jack up our billWe were also told that many of the reviews that they receive are from clients who had work done and then were given TV’s in exchange for good reviews on Angie’s listThis is quite upsetting considering if people were honest with their “reviews” maybe we would not have been caught in this situationWe want people to know that this is not a company that we would ever recommendThe owners are sketchy and after further investigation, very dishonestWe were able to get back $of our down payment

Our home is a large three story Victorian bed and breakfast Late last summer rainy straight line winds blew the ridge cap and shingles off our wood shingle roof, we found ourselves not only needing a new roof but also a total third floor suite restoration The suite had water damage and needed to be completely gutted to the studs and restored Badgerland Restoration promptly came to our rescue They quickly covered the roof with a huge tarp so that no further damage could occur and we soon set to the task of picking out new shinglesSince our home is on the National Historic Register, our new shingles had to comply with historic standards We found Badgerland had a great selection of shinglesWe were able to find a shingle that not only complied with historic register standards but also provided a good looking roof and a great warrantyWhile home damage causes stress, we were comforted to know that Badgerland Restoration had the situation in hand, could do the work in keeping with historic register standards and knew how to work with our insuranceWe lived with the tarp on our roof for a month or so until Badgerland could get to our projectBadgerland took care of getting the necessary building permits and once they started the project, weather-permitting, the crew stayed on task, showing up each morning and working each day until the job was completed They worked safely and efficiently using some very large cranes and equipment I was impressed that they secured their materials and cleaned up the yard at the end of each day I was also grateful that Badgerland was mindful of our landscaping and tried to minimize as much as possible any damage to lawn, shrubbery, etcOur large and steep roof deterred other roofers from taking on our project but Badgerland went at it with skill and experience They even cheerfully completed some venting and gutter projects I added to my wish listAs the owner of a bed and breakfast, we were concerned that we might not be able to take reservations from guests while our restoration was in progress That was not the case Except for the third floor suites, we were able to continue to take reservations for our remaining four rooms This would not have been possible if not for the fact that Badgerland’s crew worked hard, neatly, and respectfullyTo be fair, I must say, our project was not without little glitches but, we found Badgerland’s staff easy to work with and accepting of my phone calls and questionsI know that, even though this project is completed, I can count on Badgerland to take care of any issues that might occur Our thanks go to Travis, Frank, Brian, Andrea and all those brave roofers who tackled this tall house project We certainly will use them for future projects and would highly recommend Badgerland Restoration

Needed a roof reshingled I know the house is an older house and had some issuesNeeded new decking and some rafter repair and better ventingWhich caused the damageRoof looks good until late you get to the eve's and the ends are at least inches and the middle is only it is a huge eye sore it just draws you right to itIf they took the time to rebuild some of the eve you think they would of took the time to make it look goodI told them about it once I seen it and the gutters where not on yetThey wanted to charge me more to fix it instead of letting me know about it once they knew it was not going to look goodThere are a couple of other things I'm not thrilled about either but this is the major oneIf I could I would put some pics on here so you could see it

Not surprised that this business is not accredited with the Revdex.comThe roof itself seems to be fineThe job time (took days, was told it would take 3), the constant mess, equipment parked in my driveway the entire time, the and the "clean up" were all another storyThe entire perimeter of my house is littered with scraps of asphalt shingles and nailsThey laid NO tarps before tearing off the old roofing even after I complained about the fact that my flower beds, strawberry, raspberry, and rhubarb beds were being filled with tiny pieces of shingles and nailsAs if that wasn't bad enough when I started to list my grievances to the OWNER of the company, his exact response was "what the *** ever" and he got in his truck and drove awayI was speechlessI can't understand how a person can run a business like this and be successful at itI'll be sure to tell everyone I speak to about the terrible experience I had with this company

Third time I have used this company. 1st was for a new roof, 2nd to lay vinyl flooring in kitchen, and this week to remodel/side my 3 season porch. Workers are always polite and respectful of my property, work is completed promptly, and estimates are always clear and spot on. The one time the final cost was slightly higher than estimate, it was explained to me as job progressed why so there was no surprise at payment time. It is nice to know I have a go to company that I can trust!

My husband and I hired Badgerland Restoration and Remodeling Inc. in April, 2013 to replace our gutters, soffit, fascia, roof, windows, patio door and update our bathroom (install new shower/tub unit, replace the floor, install new shower door, all new hardware, sand, stain and topcoat unfinished vanity and two doors, and prime and paint the walls and ceiling). When Badgerland’s sales representative presented us with the estimate, it stated: “We are fully licensed and insured. Our in-house crews are extremely competent, well trained, and undergo extensive training/certification. We pride ourselves in quality workmanship, customer service, and on site management. All labor comes with a guaranteed five year warranty, with possible extensions up to a lifetime labor warranty.”
Prior to signing the contract, my husband and I asked the sales representative for Badgerland to verify that they had their own crews to do the work and their sales representative verified that they have their own crews that would be doing the work. The sales representative even stated the crews would be coordinated to begin work on our home at the same time in order for the job to be finished within a shorter period of time. This never took place. The contract stated the approximate start date was 5-22-2013 and the approximate end date was 6-22-2013. Badgerland did not begin work on our home until 6-4-13 and the job was not completed until the end of September, 2013. There was no change order given to us to notify us of the delay nor did Badgerland verbally inform us the job was going to take longer. Also, we never received a copy of Badgerland’s insurance policy, which they advertised they were insured.
The windows we ordered were eleven replacement, sliding vinyl windows in our home. We also ordered a bay window with double-hung windows on the sides and a patio door. The sales representative stated these would be the appropriate windows needed to replace the old windows which were single-pane, wood casement windows. When the windows were delivered, the bay window had casement windows on each side instead of the double-hung windows that we ordered. I brought this to the sales representative’s attention, and he contacted the window manufacturer to get the correct window. However, the manufacturer refused to supply a corrected window, because the sales representative did not specify on the order form that the bay window should have double-hung windows on each side, causing the manufacturer to default casement windows.
During the time the windows were being installed, the installer mentioned he was having problems getting the windows to fit. It was obvious as the installation went on that the installer was getting angry and frustrated with the job. He tried contacting the sales representative from Badgerland several times to let him know of the problems; however, the sales representative never contacted him. Finally, I called the sales representative and informed him the window installer was having problems with the windows and that he needed to talk to him. When the sales representative returned my call, I asked him if there were any problems and he said everything was fine. He stated that he called the installer and talked with him and went on to tell me that the installer has a tendency to get easily upset. After the windows were installed, the man who did the installation informed me in a conversation that he was not certified for window installation and did not receive any training from Badgerland nor the window manufacturer on how to properly install these specific windows. Nevertheless, it was advertised in our estimate (see above in bold print) that their crews were “extremely competent, well trained, and undergo extensive training/certification.” The individual who installed the windows also informed me that he was not an employee of Badgerland but was subcontracted. In fact, he has his own business. Yet, the estimate stated Badgerland had “in-house crews.”
The bathroom remodel consisted of new flooring, a new exhaust fan, a new shower unit, hardware to be installed (handles, shower-head, faucets, and two light fixtures), a new, unfinished vanity, two new, unfinished doors, a new shower door, and an electrical outlet to be installed. The walls also required retexturing and painting with mold-killing primer applied first. My husband and I asked the sales representative if their crew could do the finishing of the vanity and the two doors, and the sales representative agreed that their crews could definitely do so.
As time went on, mold began to come through the new paint in the bathroom, and mold continues to grow under the caulk used on the shower door. Mold- resistant caulk for the shower unit was not used. The glue from the previous border that was removed by Badgerland is showing through the new paint. The vanity and the two doors are rough to the touch, and the stain is now warping off of the vanity due to a top coat not being applied, and the wood was not properly finished. Badgerland also did some touch up painting in one of the rooms only to find that the paint did not match. When I called Badgerland about this, Tom Pruett rudely told me he is not sending his guys out to our house anymore.
On the weekend of November 9, 2013, an excessive amount of cold air was coming in from around the window in a bedroom on the upper level. After checking the other windows, we discovered the majority of them had cold air coming in from outside. I contacted the sales representative about the problem and he passed the message on to the owner, Travis [redacted]. [redacted] finally contacted me to schedule a time that he and a carpenter named Matt, could come to inspect the windows. [redacted] stated they would remove the window trim and bring smoke sticks, fans, and an infrared gun to find the source of the air leak. We scheduled this meeting for 11-21-2013.
On 11-21-2013, [redacted] showed up alone with only an infrared gun. He did not remove any trim from any of the windows. He said he would have Matt come to caulk even though the problem was not properly investigated. He stated they would come back in the spring to complete further caulking. I also brought to [redacted] attention how the bathroom turned out. I showed him the poorly finished vanity and the two doors, and he informed me that his “employees” do not do wood finishing. He stated they only install finished products which is unusual for a remodeling and restoration company. We were also told by the sales representative that they would be able to do the wood work. After [redacted] had left, I made a phone call to a friend of mine who has been in the window business for many years. He stated that the windows do not appear to be the correct size and that caulking would not solve the extensive air leaks. I called [redacted] that same evening and informed him that I spoke to someone to gain their professional opinion of the issue who felt the problem was not simply an issue of caulking. I suggested having the windows re-measured only to assure they were the correct size. [redacted] became belligerent, demanded to know how I had time to get someone to look at the windows since he left our home, and accused me of wanting money. I told him I was not looking for money and only wished to have his company properly diagnose and fix the problem. I also informed him of the many problems that the installers experienced during the installation process of the windows. [redacted]t then stated he did not care how the project went and that the windows were not going to be fixed. He also stated they are what they are and hung up on me. This was when my husband and I decided to hire an attorney, because there was an obvious problem that the company refused to properly address.
On 11-26-2013, I received a call from Tom [redacted], the owner’s father and vice president of Badgerland, to confirm the appointment for the next day for Matt to caulk the windows. I told him this appointment was cancelled and that he would hear back from us in a few days.
Under the advice of our attorney, we scheduled another appointment with Badgerland to have them remove the trim on the windows. This meeting took place on 1-13-2014. Tom [redacted], an employee of Badgerland, and vice president of sales of the window manufacturer, Unlimited Windows, were present. We also had an experienced window consultant come to this meeting to provide his opinion of the problem. Badgerland refused to take any trim off the windows and stated that they did not have tools with them to do so. Badgerland also tried to persuade the window consultant to take the trim off which would have been inappropriate for him to do so since Badgerland installed the windows. Yet, this meeting was specifically set up for Badgerland to remove the trim to find the source of the air leaks. Tom [redacted] went on to say that he never told me they were going to remove any trim on this date. Tom [redacted] then stated they would have a local contractor come to remove the trim on another day. Tom [redacted] also stated that his son, Travis, does quite well and brings in about $5,000,000 a year. It is our opinion that they would rather caulk the windows than correctly identify the source of the problem.
We discussed the meeting with our attorney and decided not to make the appointment to have a local carpenter remove the trim, since we do not know if he/she is affiliated with Badgerland. We were also having many difficulties with them along with the lack of respect on their part.
We scheduled yet another meeting with Badgerland to remove the trim. Present at this meeting were my husband and I, two sales representatives from Badgerland, our attorney, and two experienced window consultants. This meeting took place on 3-18-2014, four months after Badgerland was notified of the problems with the windows. When Badgerland removed the trim on the kitchen window, several openings to the outside were visible due to no use of insulation and poorly constructed framing. We also discovered that the man who installed the windows removed the original frames and poorly fabricated new frames with 2x4’s and 1x6’s which left huge gaps in the corners. We were not aware of this until the trim was finally removed. One of Badgerland’s sales representatives stated the old frames needed to be removed, because they were rotted and fell apart which was the reason the window installer fabricated new frames. We were never informed of the supposed problems with the frames, nor were we informed that the process of the window installations would be dramatically changed because of the fabrication of new frames. Also, at this meeting, this particular sales representative even commented that this was a “botched job.”
At this point, my husband and I did not want anyone from Badgerland to do anything more about these issues, since we had so many difficulties with them, as well as the fact that they misrepresented themselves to us since the beginning of the job.
I later found out from the man who installed the windows that the frames from the old windows were, in fact, not rotted. His justification for removing the old frames was the fact that he simply did not know how to properly remove them. One of Badgerland’s sales representatives advised him to remove the entire window, including the frame, and was told to make them fit. This resulted in the window installer’s fabrication of new frames in order to make the new windows fit. However, even by doing so, the windows do not fit properly. Because of the incorrect installation and lack of insulation of the windows, frost accumulates in the winter on the interior vinyl of the new windows and the trim, and cold air blows throughout our home. We were faced with cold temperatures in our home throughout the past two winters, with our two daughters’ bedrooms being the worst.
During the summer of 2014, my husband and I conducted numerous phone calls, emails, and meetings with our attorney, and our attorney had numerous phone calls and emails with Badgerland’s attorney. It is in our opinion that Badgerland was intentionally prolonging this situation for their own benefit. Eventually, we came to an agreement to conduct mediation. It was decided that if mediation was unsuccessful, we would then proceed to arbitration.
Mediation took place at our home on 8-22-2014. The mediation took place without Badgerland’s attorney due to the extra cost it would acquire for them. Also, [redacted] was confident that we would come to an agreement during mediation without the presence of his attorney. Unfortunately, mediation was unsuccessful.
It was also brought to our attention by the village building inspector that there were no building permits applied for the remodel of our home. He also informed us that if he were to have an inspection conducted on the windows, it would not pass. When this was brought to Badgerland’s attention, they stated they were not aware that any permits were required for this job. In fact, the village we live in does require building permits for replacement of soffit, fascia and new windows if the frames of the window are to be removed to install new windows. Building permits are to be applied for before work commences on any home improvement for which they are required. Also, owners of the property are to be notified of any required permits before work commences. Badgerland eventually paid for the building permits and the penalty for applying after the work was already completed. Badgerland paid this a short time before we the scheduled arbitration took place.
On 11-25-2014, arbitration took place at the arbitrator’s office. My husband and I incurred the expense of hiring a court reporter for arbitration since Badgerland did not feel it was necessary to have one. We also had to pay for half of the arbitration costs and attorney fees.
On 12-11-2014, the arbitrator awarded us a judgement against Badgerland for $40,581.06, which Badgerland is well overdue in paying us to get our windows fixed. This judgement does not even include the cost of fixing our bathroom. We have also been informed that Badgerland has threatened to file bankruptcy.
To this date, we still do not have our windows fixed, and it will be our third winter living in a freezing house with high heating bills. Now, we have to worry about the possibility of mold in the walls due to the moisture from the bad installation.
I would definitely not recommend this company! In fact, the sales representative from Badgerland that so adamantly defended them has now taken Badgerland to small claims court himself. [redacted] has many branches of this company across the United States and still cannot seem to make enough money to pay his dues. In my opinion, they are rude, unprofessional, irresponsible, and disrespectful. They falsely misrepresent who they are and what they do. In my opinion, they do not care about the safety and satisfaction of their customers. There are good contractors out there, but in my opinion, Badgerland Restoration and Remodeling, Inc. is definitely not one of them.

When our company was
originally contracted by [redacted]...

[redacted], we worked diligently to get her and her
family back into their home by Thanksgivings. After multiple attempts to obtain
a punch out list from the [redacted], we finally received the list on Feb. 17, 2014.
Due to the tardiness of receiving this punch out list we were not able to begin
work on the list until recently due to poor weather as the list included
exterior paint and window replacement. While our crew was working on the list,
Mr [redacted] made the decision to remove the lock box on the front door so our
crews could not complete the project. It was explained to Mr [redacted] multiple
times that our crews are very busy and as a result of his actions it will
dramatically increase the completion time of the project. A representative from
our company spoke to Mr [redacted] on may 1, 2014 and stated that due to him not
letting our crews continue, we were currently focused on many other open
projects which are larger and could not be stopped. The representative also
stated to Mr [redacted] that the other projects should be completed by May 9, 2014
and Mr [redacted] questions would all be addressed at that time.
Our company feels this claim is premature and inaccurate from this
customer due to prior contact with our representative stating a time when his
questions would be addressed. The owner of Badgerland has made several attempts
also to set up a time to meet with Mr & Mrs [redacted] to go over the details
of the project in order to move forward with the completion. Every attempt of
contact by the owner of Badgerland has not had any response from the customer
to this date.
Badgerland is still currently attempting to set an exact time to meet
with the customer, owner of Badgerland, sales representative, Chief Financial
Officer, and desk adjuster to review and resolve this situation.
