[redacted]’s water filter cracked due to freezing weather which is not covered by warranty. The statement made, “...the engineer indicated by leaving my lights on the building at all times would suffice.” was denied. All customers have the option to equip their ice vending machines with a Cold Weather Kit (components to improve performance during freezing temperatures). This Cold Weather Kit is offered specifically because BOI can not help to prevent water in pipes, filters, and ice maker components from freezing with out them.
BOI sells and waranties ice vending machines that are left outdoors. As [redacted] provided no advanced detail of his plans to install his ice and water vending machine partially outdoors and indoors, we believe it would be best for him to seek the advice of his plumbing and electrical contractors to determine which practices or codes will help him keep his the interior of his building above freezing.
For the specific purposes of goodwill, BOI will provide Mr. [redacted] with a replacement water filter at half the regular cost, if he willing to take responsibility for the ever present limitations of his structure and take the necessary steps to insure that these instances do not reoccur.
