Review: My mother [redacted] died on Jan. 7, 2013. Her body was shipped from Alabama to Covington LA for her funeral at Bagnell Funeral Home because of a pre-need arrangement she had made and paid for years earlier. We met with [redacted], Funeral Director at Bagnell on Jan 9th. He did not provide us with a Statement of Goods and Services Selected. My mom's pre-need policy was to pay $4,920.56 to the funeral home: however, because she died in Alabama certain charges had to be paid by the family to the Alabama funeral home that transfered her body to Bagnell Funeral Home. We reviewed the original burial plan with the director at Bagnell and he verbally confirmed a refund was to be made to the family, but he was evasive and told us he would have to get the final amount confirmed and let us know. We have made contact with this funeral home on multiple occasions since my mom's funeral and still can not get an answer about the refund of approximately $1,596.68. We have asked for the refund amount to be sent to us multiple times along with the certified death certificates. We have not received anything to this date from the Bagnell Funeral Home and have been treated poorly over the multiple phone calls made to try to clear this matter up. We have confirmed the Death Certificates were mailed from the Searcy Funeral Home in Alabame to the Bagnell Funeral Home in Covington LA on January 27th. The Bagnell funeral director tells us he has not recieved them and nor has he had time to talk to the owner of the Bagnell Funeral Home to clear up this matter. The death of our mom is significant and very difficult. We should not have to endure the trauma this funeral home has put our family through since her death. They told us her casket was pre-selected and would be white metal with pink trim and roses. She was not put into the Casket they described, nor did we get to see the casket prior to her burial although we asked to do so. Her funeral went without music due to faulty equipment. We had to find a ministerDesired Settlement: I want the refund amount sent to me from the Bagnell and Son Funeral Home immediately so that I can bring closure to this very difficult situation. I want a copy of the Statement of Goods and Services Selected to be provided to me along with an itemized list of the credits given. I expect Bagnell & Son Funeral Home to mail to me the Certified Death Certificates for my mom as arranged in her pre-need funeral policy. The funeral home owes us a refund and an apology!
