Bailey's Home Improvement Reviews (%countItem)

Take this review as both a warning and an opportunity to learn from and not repeat our mistakes the biggest one being the hiring of Mr. Trent Bailey of Bailey's Home Improvements (to begin a series of minor improvements on our home on May 8th). Mr. Bailey and two workers showed up to begin on May 8th. However, shortly after arrival, Bailey left to pick up supplies and /or materials. Before he returned, Bailey texted us, informing us that the color of the floor replacement planks were not going to be an exact match. He didn't bother to bring a sample back to get our approval, or simply text a picture of what he was planning to purchase. When we looked at the new flooring, we were horrified. The color of the new planks were not even close to what was already in place. It appeared that Bailey didn't bother to take a sample of our flooring with him to get a compatible match. We immediately confronted Bailey and his workers. He and his crew claimed that, "this was the only color we could find." It was during this questioning that we realized that out of his 3 man crew only one worker was doing most of the work while Bailey himself spent most of his time sitting outside in his truck. It was unclear what that third crew member actually did. With such a work ethic, it became clear why the work still hasn't been completed as of July 20. It also helps explain the shoddy, careless and unprofessional quality of the work that was done. Unfortunately, our realizations and problems with this company didn't end there. Not only weren't the planks a decent match, but the floor was installed unevenly at every location where new planks were positioned both in terms of height as well as length (leaving a noticeably uneven look at the borders). Additionally, Bailey's worker also left noticeable gaps everywhere the new planks and trim were placed, used what was clearly the wrong size baseboard trim, damaged the exterior siding and frames (exposing the substructures and supports to the elements), and left gaps between the door and the door frames which emitted both light and other outside elements. In addition, this company left green glue on the wall and floors and a large tear in the vinyl flooring of the closet when the worker attempted to rip up the old flooring. Neither Bailey nor his workers informed us of this damage. We called to question Bailey about this, and he claimed he didn't see or know about it. This was how they left our home. Despite the company's name, there were no real improvements made here. In fact, things are worse than before the work began. Ironically, when it comes to the incorrect baseboard trim, it was Bailey who called us (the customer) while we were out running errands, and asked us to buy ¼ round trim. What company asked clients to pick up material for them? They shouldn't even be borrowing tools from the client either. They are supposed to arrive with the right materials and tools, appropriate staffing in terms of numbers of workers and competency levels, as well as everything they need to get the job done in a professional manner. That's what they are getting paid for. On that first day, as their work day came to a close (after roughly 4 hours of "work,"), Bailey and crew simply packed up their materials, walked out the house, and placed all of the discarded flooring material near our residential trash can. They were preparing to drive away with only 1/3 of the work done. At that point, we ran outside and told them that the front door had to be done today because the threshold was not installed leaving a huge gap under the front door. How can a company pack it in for the day and prepare to leave with all of these obvious unaddressed customer and quality issues unresolved and without even the decency to tell its customer that they were finished for the day? That they could do these things speaks volumes about the type of company that you are inviting into your home should you decide to hire Bailey's Home Improvements. Finally, we have been trying to contact Bailey so he can at least address remaining issues, but he has been elusive. When he actually answers the phone and schedules a day and time to complete the work, he is a no call, no show for that specific day and time. We found him and his company to be unreliable, and unprofessional, with the worse collection of amateurs imaginable working with him. He shows a disrespect for the customer, does not value the customer's time (arriving late or not at all), has poor communication skills, makes up prices on the spot, but then does sloppy, shoddy, hasty work. We are in the process of suing this company in order to properly address or correct these issues. NO customer should ever have to go through all of this. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
