Bailey's Home Repair Reviews (1)

Mr. [redacted] failed to follow through with the contract that we signed on June 28, 2016 for repairs to be done to our home. He received $400 down pymt.[redacted] contacted [redacted] (after seeing an ad in the [redacted] Daily Times)about doing repairs to our home. Mr. [redacted] came out to do an observation of the work to be performed. Mr. [redacted] informed Mr. [redacted] that the front storm door need to be repaired, the back storm door need the molding replaced, the deck need to have several boards replaced. The deck also need to be washed and stained. Mr. [redacted] returned with the contract. According to the contract, Mr. [redacted] was to repair the storm door, replace brick molding on the rear door, replace 100 feet of aluminum trim on the house, replace four boards on the deck, pressure wash and stain the deck at a total cost of $805.00. The contract indicated that $400.00 is to be given as a down payment with the remainder ($405.00) to be paid upon completion of the work. After reviewing the contract, Mr. [redacted] called Mr. [redacted] to informed him that we accepted the contract. On June 28, 2016, Mr. [redacted] returned to do the work. We ( Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]) signed the contract. Mr. [redacted] was given a check in the amount of $400.00. The check was cashed on June 28, 2016 by Mr. [redacted]. On June 28, 2016, Mr. [redacted] nailed the loose board on the front storm door, in place. He also placed aluminum trim on the house. Before he left, he stated he would return in two-three days to complete the work. Mr. [redacted] stated he would be doing the work in the afternoon ( when he return) because he was working on another project. He asked that we pick out the color(s) of stain that we wanted. Mr. [redacted] informed Mr. [redacted] that he would be at work in the afternoon. He was told by Mr. [redacted] to leave the paper with the color(s) we had selected attached to the inside of the back storm door. He stated he would get the paper with the color(s) we had selected when he return in two-three days. As of this date, Mr. [redacted] has not returned to complete the work.A voice mail was left on July 18, 2016 at 12:50 by Mr. [redacted] for Mr. [redacted] to contact us. Mr. [redacted] did not respond to Mr. [redacted]' telephone call. Mr. [redacted] called again on July 21, 2016 from his cell phone; Mr. [redacted] did not answer. Mrs. [redacted] called Mr. [redacted] on this same date from their home telephone. She spoke with Mr. [redacted] at 11:16. Mr. [redacted] stated he had lost the telephone number therefore he could not contact us. Mrs. [redacted] provided Mr. [redacted] ( again) with the [redacted]' home telephone number and Mr. [redacted]' cell number. Mr. [redacted] stated he had not returned to complete the work because his "pressure washer is broken." According to Mr. [redacted] his "pressure washer is in the repair shop." He stated he was told it would be about two-three weeks before it is ready. He stated he would call us when he receive his pressure washer. Mr. [redacted] called Mr. [redacted] again on August 15, 2016 at 8:50 am. Mr. [redacted] did not answer the call. A voice mail was left by Mr. [redacted] for Mr. [redacted] to contact us about the unfinished work. As of this date, there have been no response from Mr. [redacted].At this point we would not trust Mr. [redacted] to do any more work for us. We do not want him to return to complete the unfinished work. However, we do think he performed $400.00 worth of work.Desired SettlementAs stated above, no further contact; however we feel that $400.00 was too much for the work he performed.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted], OwnerContact Phone: (XXX) XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@gmail.comI replaced 300 feet of aluminum fascia at $3/foot. I rehung the front storm door because it didn't fit properly, also replacing rotten wood, for $100. I was going to pressure wash the deck but my pressure washer was not working and could not be fixed. I notified the customer of this and suggested they find another contractor to handle the pressure washing of the deck. I do not do enough pressure washing jobs to warrant me buying another machine. They're last comment of the complaint states "we do think he performed $400 worth of work," so why are they complaining?Consumer Response According to the contract we have, Mr. [redacted] was to replace 100 feet of aluminum trim at a cost of $300.00. However, according to his reply, he stated he replaced 300 feet of aluminum fascia at $3.00 a foot. He also stated he re-hung the front storm door and replaced rotten wood for $100.00. He did not re-hang the door nor did he replace any wood. He nailed the existing wood in place. According to the contract we signed, the repair of the door was to be $60.00. The contract also indicated that any alteration or deviation from the above specifications involving extra cost be executed only upon written order. This was not done. We welcome anyone who wish to see what he did , to do so.Mr. [redacted] never notified us to contact another contractor to do the pressure washing of the deck. If he had told us to do so, we would not have tried to contact him about the unfinished work. We feel if we had not tried to contact Mr. [redacted] we would have not heard from him again.Mr. [redacted] asked in his response why we are complaining? It is because we feel we were misled about the work he said he could and would do. Also, the last sentence that we wrote had a typo. It should have read" However, we DON'T think he performed $400.00 worth of work."Final Business Response There was a typo in my above referenced comment in regards to the number of feet of aluminum fascia. I replaced 100 feet of aluminum fascia at $3/foot which is the going rate. This price can be verified at any retailer that sells and/or installs siding in [redacted]. Also, I DID rehang the storm door and I DID repair the damaged wood at $100. The customer is not being truthful and I will no longer provide services to them.
