We agreed to replace a failed TXV and defrost board on the [redacted] ’s heat pump system for $2,plus tax The [redacted] s thought the estimate was high and stated that they had found the parts online for $ With the cost of the refrigerant being $and the parts cost, they felt that our profit margin was too high and asked for a discount We agreed to give them a $discount We also informed the [redacted] s, that the state of the compressor would not be known until the TXV and defrost board repair were completed and therefore, could not guarantee that the repair would fix their system Once those repairs were completed, it was determined that the compressor was shot At that time, they decided that they shouldn’t have to pay for the repairs in their entirety We, again, agreed to another $discount for the parts, as we don’t charge for parts that do not fix the problem However, the initial diagnostic fee, labor, and refrigerant needs to be paid That amount is broken down, as follows: Diagnostic Fee $Refrigerant $Four hours of labor $Subtotal $1,Tax $ TOTAL $1, Thank you.Elvina B***Office ManagerBainbridge Heating and Air206-780-

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meMy acceptance of the business's proposed resolution notwithstanding, however, I wish to note for the record that two statements made in the business's response are not an accurate representation of what occurredFirst, when the business's owner inspected my HVAC and I noted that another company had told me the HVAC compressor was broken, he stated very clearly to me that the compressor was not/not broken He did not say that the compressor's status could not be determined until the TXV and defrost control panel had been replacedSecond, I do not argue that the TXV and defrost control panel were replaced or that refrigerant was replacedThe crux of the issue I have had all along with the company is that when I explained that I was trying to decide whether or not to proceed with proposed expensive repairs on my 10-year-old HVAC, the business owner very clearly offered his assurance that if the repairs he proposed did not fix my HVAC, I would not be charged for the repairs And after the repairs were made, I was then told that the compressor was broken after all (after first being told that it was fine) and that I had to pay for the unsuccessful service to my systemIf the owner had not volunteered his unsolicited offer not to charge me for any repairs that did not work, I of course would not have contested my obligation to pay for the service conducted on my HVACI probably would not have been happy, but I certainly would have paid without hesitation. So I will pay the $1,to bring this painful experience to an end, but it is important to me that the record shows I was not dealt with by this business in an honest manner Sincerely, [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. My acceptance of the business's proposed resolution notwithstanding, however, I wish to note for the record that two statements made in the business's response are not an accurate representation of what occurred. First, when the business's owner inspected my HVAC and I noted that another company had told me the HVAC compressor was broken, he stated very clearly to me that the compressor was not/not broken.  He did not say that the compressor's status could not be determined until the TXV and defrost control panel had been replaced. Second, I do not argue that the TXV and defrost control panel were replaced or that refrigerant was replaced. The crux of the issue I have had all along with the company is that when I explained that I was trying to decide whether or not to proceed with proposed expensive repairs on my 10-year-old HVAC, the business owner very clearly offered his assurance that if the repairs he proposed did not fix my HVAC, I would not be charged for the repairs.
And after the repairs were made, I was then told that the compressor was broken after all (after first being told that it was fine) and that I had to pay for the unsuccessful service to my system. If the owner had not volunteered his unsolicited offer not to charge me for any repairs that did not work, I of course would not have contested my obligation to pay for the service conducted on my HVAC. I probably would not have been happy, but I certainly would have paid without hesitation. So I will pay the $1,657.68 to bring this painful experience to an end, but it is important to me that the record shows I was not dealt with by this business in an honest manner.
Sincerely,

We agreed to replace a failed TXV and defrost board on the [redacted]’s heat pump system for $2,436.00 plus tax.  The [redacted]s thought the estimate was high and stated that they had found the parts online for $195.88.  With the cost of the refrigerant being $910 and the parts cost, they felt...

that our profit margin was too high and asked for a discount.   We agreed to give them a $200 discount.  We also informed the [redacted]s, that the state of the compressor would not be known until the TXV and defrost board repair were completed and therefore, could not guarantee that the repair would fix their system.  Once those repairs were completed, it was determined that the compressor was shot.  At that time, they decided that they shouldn’t have to pay for the repairs in their entirety.  We, again, agreed to another $400 discount for the parts, as we don’t charge for parts that do not fix the problem.  However, the initial diagnostic fee, labor, and refrigerant needs to be paid.  That amount is broken down, as follows: Diagnostic Fee $95.00 Refrigerant $910.00 Four hours of labor $520.00 Subtotal $1,525.00 Tax $ 132.68 TOTAL $1,657.68  Thank you.Elvina B[redacted]Office ManagerBainbridge Heating and Air206-780-6850
