February 17,2017Dear ***,I am writing in response to your correspondence of February 14th regarding the account of *** *** ***I wish to respond to his comments as follows:1.) *** *** received CPAP supplies and equipment in April 18, Baird Respiratory is In-Network with
*** ***'s insurance plan and we accept their contracted allowables, which are discounted from our retail price ($retail versus $allowed and after three months further lowered to $57.46).Each insurance is different, in that they can have different allowables, co-insurances, co-payments and deductibleWe are able to verify co-insurances/co-payments but we cannot always get information as to what is the annual deductible amount assigned to each customer or how much has been met in a calendar yearThat is, until our billing to the insurance company is processed, at which time, we learned that *** ***'s had a $2,deductible.*** ***'s original payment of $covered 50% for the 1st month's rental of the CPAP (which, after payment of rental months transfers ownership to *** ***) and assorted suppliesThe insurance company would pay the other 50% ($206.49) if *** ***'s deductible amount was met, which it was not.We billed *** ***, each month, for his 50% share and the insurance companies 50% portion only after his plan processed our claim and applied their co-payment amount to his deductible.Since receiving payment at the time of the initial setup, Baird has not received any payment from *** *** since 04/18/and his account was, subsequently, put into Collections.In reviewing *** ***'s account, the total amount of the discounted allowable is $Of that amount, *** *** paid $206.89, leaving an, unpaid, open balance of $If *** *** pays this amount, the ownership of CPAP Machine is transferred to him.2.) With regards to the Headgear, Baird does not carry Headgear as a separate itemHeadgear always comes as part of a CPAP Mask, which is what *** *** is referring to when quoting Sversus $(We found an *** price at $for Headgear and *** *** can avail himself of that item, through ***, with a credit card payment.)3.) We deal with insurance plans every day and, unfortunately, customers have the misconception of assuming their health insurance will cover 100% of their expensesIt used to be that way but those days are long gone because, to keep premiums low, insurance companies have shifted more of the financial burden onto the consumer.Finally, if *** *** pays our company the unpaid balance, we will remove his account from Collections and we will fill his supply needs, againHe can contact our company to make payment arrangementsHe should contact our Accounts Receivable Liasion at ###-###-####.Should you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me.Respectfully yours,Robert BDirector, Adminstration
