Baja Pool Plastering Reviews (3)

Baja Pool Plastering.. owner Ruben Castillo. Work competed February 03,2018. The coloring of our pool was to be a light blue. It now has whites splotches and swirls as well as workers foot prints.( Leaks to pool plumbing and broken pool light fixtures are now being repaired at our cost by another contractor since Baja Pool has denied any responsibility after also installing a separate pool vacuum line to pool pump) The change in coloring is rapidly becoming so dramatic that the pool replastering actually looks years older instead of less than 90 days since work was completed by Baja Pool Plastering. I contacted Baja Pool Plastering and spoke to the owner Ruben Castillo about these issues. Ruben Castillo came to our home within 90 days of job completion and said he was shocked at how bad the pool coloring looked. He had someone come out to inspect the pool water in order to determine what needed to be done to clear up the problem. To this day he has not returned our calls. We have been forced to resolve all issues on our own.
Ruben Castillo dba Baja Pool plastering is not a licensed contractor nor is he a member of the BBB. We regret throwing away our hard earned money to this man and his company.

Review: [redacted], owner, Baja Pool Plastering resurfaced the pool & spa exterior surface of our home pool. The result was that there was excessive "dust" or a white film over the pool surface that would not come off with normal vaccuming and filtering (per his direction), he made a site visit and directed me on the procedure. The "dust" persisited and we called and voiced our concerns again and [redacted] made a second site visit to observe the condition and sent us to his pool products wholesaler to purchase a special sand paper and pole and directed us to lightly sand the excess white dust off the surface of the pool. We purchased the products as directed and followed his instruction as directed. Now the pool has begun to oxidize (unsightly rusty brown looking patches) in all the spots where we sanded the dust off and the rest of the surface is mulit-shades of blue with some of it still white from the continued dust settlement. We have contacted [redacted] several times on his cell phone and he agreed to come and have a look at the mess. He made an appointment for Monday, July 1st in the morning but did not keep it and did not respond when we called him. We sent him a email outlining the problems that we have with the work he did on our pool and he did not respond. He indicated in our first conversation (when he made the appointment to come and look at the pool) that he couldn't do anything for us and that the result was our problem. We disagree with him. The resurfacing seems to not have been done properly which did not allow for proper curing of the plaster which has resulted in our current problem.Desired Settlement: To repair or redo the resurfacing of our pool and spa so that it is done correctly and to the anticipated outcome of the service.

Review: Baja Pool plastering conducted a pool plastering on my in ground pool in Jan timeframe for a cost of $6,000.00. This included fixing previous issues with old plaster and including a new plaster surface as well as a noticeable leak from an unknown location. Additionally, the cost included a start-up service to remove all plaster dust which was suppose to prohibit the plaster residue from embedding into the new plaster surface. Immediately following the plaster installation while filling with water I noticed the plaster residue had already blemished the new surface. When brought to the attention of the owner [redacted] he provided me with a piece of wet sandpaper and showed me that sanding would bring back the new shine. When mentioned to him 2 months later he told me that the white deposit seen on 90% of the new surface was a calcium deposit and again showed me how sandpaper would bring back the shine of the new surface. After having a pool cleaning professional inspect the surface, I was informed that it was due to a poor start up service being conducted. Additionally an inline chlorinator was purchased at the same time and has not worked since it was installed. I am still attempting to get Baja pool plastering to replace after 6 months of waiting. The warranty for this plastering is suppose to be 25 years. I've attempted to discuss the pool surface and leake with Mr [redacted] and he has quickly dismissed my concerns and accepted no fault for the poor start up service and undetermined leak that was not present prior to have the pool re-plastered.Desired Settlement: I would like Baja to fix the surface of the plaster and determine where the leak is and have it fixed.

I is true that I replastered the pool and the spa in a nice beautiful light blue plaster color and I have plenty of pictures of the final product. Once I finish the job and I turn the pool over to the home owner his problems begin there because he needs to select a profesional swimming pool person because if he does not have a profesional pool service men his new pool surface can be stained or parhaps damaged. No pool replastering company in the USA cover stains,or missuse or abuse of pool chemicals. As far as the the leak Mr. [redacted] is claiming I recomend that he hires a profesional pool leak derection to determine where his pool is leaking from.it can not be leaking from the plaster because the plaster is new. The leak detection company will provide a report of where the leak is so that he will know, but I can not do a repair only because he says that is my fault. I have no problem in making good on my guarantees related to the work I performed but I will not cover a guarantee for someone else"s mistakes such as their pool service man /woman.
