Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: None of those questions were ever asked and I never told you it only ran hot on the highway because it started over heating immediately after I picked it up from your shop. I asked all of the questions. You all assumed it was the thermostat, which was not the issue as I tested the thermostat myself. Why was the thermostat left in a box unopened in my back seat? It was never put in my car, which is why it was still overheating immediately after I paid you and picked up my car. I did approach you all with about the issue over the phone and when I returned my car hours after picking it up and you all were very hostile and intimidating. You all should have checked ALL elements that could cause a car to overheat before assuming the cause based on what you claim what I told you which is a lie. I did not drive my car for 10 minutes before it started over heating and even I did tell you that you still should have checked everything since you all call yourselves professionals. No favors were done for me when I took my car to you the first or second time. Why was the brand new thermostat left in my back seat? You all left my original thermostat in my car and are conveniently blaming a plastic bag that you never showed me any proof of as it being my fault once I left your shop the first time. The bottom line is you all charged me and wrote up a bogus receipt for something that you did not do (replacing a thermostat) and gasket (we never discussed and my motor would of been bad if that were the case) and now removing a so call plastic bag. You ran a shady one on me as a female and too prideful to admit it. You need $138 more than I do obviously and I was able to bless you, your family, and business not once, but twice. I hope you pay it forward and bless someone else!!!

Dear Revdex.com Corporate Office,                                    ... This message is a response to a complaint submitted to Revdex.com about my business, Uptown Auto Repair, by [redacted]. As I have explained in the first letter. [redacted] came to Uptown Auto Repair for an overheating problem. There are many things that can cause an overheating problem. The first question you ask in regards to a beating problem is "How long does it take for the car to get hot?" When we asked her this, she replied that "it takes about 10 minutes". For a car that is overheating within ten minutes, the course of action is replacing the car's thermostat. Therefore, we removed the thermostat to test it. This involves dropping it in hot water to observe how fast and slow it opens. This is standard to determine the condition of the thermostat. It failed the test so we replaced her thermostat. She paid the amount due for parts and labor. Later, she returned to Uptown Auto Repair, stating that she still had an overheating problem. After a thermostat has been replaced, and in order to understand the new heating issue, we asked her "Does it get hot during stop and go driving or when you are driving on the highway?". She replied that the overheating occurs during highway driving. In order to check for this type of overheating problem, we had to remove the radiator. This is standard procedure to inspect the radiator for blockage. When we did this, we discovered a plastic bag that had been lodged, and we dislodged the bag for her car. She returned to pick up the car, and we did not charge her for any of this labor as a favor to the customer. The total cost of the labor to remove the radiator and dislodge the bag is $144.30. If we were to charge her only for the second job then she owes us $6.47. The receipt shows the amount due for the second job. Uptown Auto Repair conducted business in favor of the customer by not charging her for the labor involved in the removal of the plastic bag. Even if the plastic bag had been removed first, the customer would have still experienced an overheating problem. Both courses of action were required: replacing the thermostat and removing the plastic bag. These were two separate issues with two separate solutions. Uptown Auto Repair only charged the customer for one of these actions. I do not understand why Ms. [redacted] would like all of the work to be free of charge. Her overheating problems were resolved, and she never approached us directly about having any issues paying for the parts and labor for the thermostat. Again, thank you for informing us about this matter, and allowing us to respond to the complaint filed. Sincerely, [redacted]

To whom it may...

concern:                                    ... 10/01/2015 My customer MSAIVade came to our shop for overheating problem two different instances. The first instance required a new thermostat and gasket and the cost of repair was S11..38.03. The second time the customer came in for overheating problem the issue was resolved by removing the radiator and removing a dislodged plastic bag. This involved significant labor. The customer was not charged for the second overheating issue and any labor associated with removing the radiator. Both the new thermostat and radiator removal were required because of the two different overheating problems. The customer paid for the thermostat installation and was not charged for the second overheating problem out of the shop courtesy. Both invoices are attached. Please also understand that her overheating problem was resolved. Thank you for informing us about this. Sincerely   [redacted] (Owner)
