Review: My brother purchased a groupon for me from groupon.com For 3 months of storage for $100.I moved into my unit on 1/25/14 and paid 3 months of renter insurance and the $15 processing fee. On Friday April 11th,2014 I received an email saying I was passed due on my rent and needed to pay $133 to get access to my unit and my belongings. I called the storage company on 4/12/14 and talked to [redacted]. I explained that I had the groupon and he said don't worry about it the email was sent by mistake. On 4/14/14 I went to get all of my things out of the unit and was not able to access my unit. When I went into the office the facilities manager [redacted]. told me I was passed due and owed $133.I tried to explain to him that I had a groupon and was informed I did not need to pay until 4/24/14.I showed him the call log on my cell phone from when I spoke to [redacted]. He told me that didn't mean anything. I told him that I would have paid when I called if I truly owed the money because I needed to get my items for my new home. He told me it was my responsibility to pay my bills on time and that it was not his fault I was irresponsible. He then said his employees do not make mistakes and that the employee I spoke with is very good. I already knew that [redacted] was a good employee because he helped me get my unit and was very polite and informative. [redacted] said he would waive the late fee even though he would get in trouble and told me I need to be more responsible. My boyfriend ended up paying $118 for me to *et my stuff out of the unit. After [redacted] ran his card he said if I had known you were leaving today I could have prorated it and now its too late. Then [redacted] told me smoking was not allowed on the premises. I do not smoke so I don't know why he felt the need to tell me when someone else was clearly smoking that was not me. I take offence to that because my grandmother just passed from cancer from smoking. As a manager I expected more from [redacted] and I don't feel like belittling or talking down to customers is professional. I paid in full for 3 months not for 2 months and 21 days. I expect the service I paid for and the company to honor the contract.Desired Settlement: I would like money back, an apology for the treatment I received and I would like my review on yelp not to be erased. I want my yelp review up because people that want to use this business have a right to know that things like this occur.
