Called near closing time for a service call on my AC unit. Ken, the owner said it would be $50 just to show up. I thought that was fair since it was after 5pm. Ken showed up within the hour he promised, diagnosed the capacitor within minutes, replaced and done in under 20 minutes. Charged me $394.54 (which he said included an upgraded part and a year warrenty on that part). Price included the original service call fee of $50 and $344.54 for the capacitor. My hands were tied so I just paid him and thanked him for his service. After he left, I searched the same part he installed and on Grainger.com, which is very expensive, and the same part was $125. The next day I tried to call Ken and got a secratary. She said she had no record of our transaction and eventually put me in contact with Ken. I asked why the huge mark up for the part and he said it included his service. I then asked why I paid the $50 for the service call if he included his service in his itemized "parts" receipt. He responded that his price were comparable with other companies. I then asked if others charge $220 for 20 minutes worth of work? He responded that "most people don't complain about my prices". I asked him if he charges all people over $600 dollars an hour and he wouldn't respond.

Baker Heating and Cooling was part of SRP promotion for an air conditioner inspection. Ken found several items that were not performing up to standard. It was a positive experience. The air conditioner should be more efficient and economical to operate this year as apposed to the prior year.

I have been using Baker Heating and Cooling for nearly two years now. The service has been great, and [redacted] doesn't try to continually sell you a new HVAC system on the pretense you'll save all sorts of money, unlike too many other HVAC contractors.

Mr. [redacted] is great! He responded very quickly when my AC went out yesterday on a record breaking hot day and quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He had my AC cooling again within hours of my initial call. He did not try to sell me a bunch of parts, he just fixed what was broken quickly. I am so glad I found [redacted] Heating and Cooling through my home warranty a few years ago. I have had bad experiences in the past with AC companies trying to sell me a lot of expensive, unnecessary repairs but not [redacted]. He is honest and cares about his customers. I highly recommend him.
