Review: I received a bill from Baker & Son Service Center in early November 2014 for an oil change amounting $53.53. The bill was addressed to me and dated for 4/4/14 with a PAST DUE notice. Knowing I have NEVER been to the business, I called to inquire as to why I had received the bill. I was informed the person who handles billing was not in for the day, but they took my information down. I was sure to leave my phone number and requested a return call on 11/6 or 11/7/14.
After not hearing back, I called again today, 11/10/14 and asked for the person who handles billing. The person stated it was them. I asked their name and they said Brian.
I asked him why I had received this bill when I hadn't been to the business. He stated that when they looked up the address for Tammy B[redacted], they "must have recorded down information for the wrong Tammy B[redacted]." I asked what would have happened if I had paid the bill and he stated to me, "Why would you pay a bill for a service you didn't receive?" Due to ongoing problems with scams in our nation, I am concerned for elderly persons who may pay for bills who are unaware of their nature. I told the man, "You shouldn't send bills unless you are positive you have the right client, you would have had an extra $53.53 in your pocket, and I would have been short these $50 for a service that was never rendered to me. I told Brian I would share this information with others in the community because of my concern, he had encouraged me saying, "go right ahead."Desired Settlement: The gentleman on the phone was rude and unprofessional regarding my concern, mocking my question of what would have happened had I paid the bill.
As a small town in central PA, I think that professionalism and admittance to wrong-doing is a respectable trait.
Thank you.
