Baker's General Contracting Reviews (2)

August 2015 I was hired to remodel/finish thier basement and kitchen for Mr. And Mrs Terry Knight after completing the basement minus a minor punch list we had starting work on the kitchen. The scope of this work required us to prep the exsisting kitchen for the the cabinet installer they...

contracted this included demoing the old kitchen removing exsisting wallboard repairing drywall and installing a new customer supplied ceramic floor tile. The customers had a quality issue with the floor tile, there was a variation in the tile that they supplied. This is where the job went south. Mr.and Mrs. Knight where unhappy/ unsatisfied  with the workmanship of the subcontractor I had hired. This subcontractor no longer performs any services for me They had suggested it was best if we just parted ways at this point. I tried to rectify their complaints but to no avail. At this time  all parties involved collectively decided it was best that we would not fufill the contact to completion. I was owed roughly $8000.00 on the remaider of the contract. This final payment that I agreed to surrender would have been my profit on the job. Nearly all of their payments up until this point went directly to the expenses of thier job paying subcontractors, labor, materials and disposal fees etc. My portion of the contract was 90 percent complete and nearly 30 percent of the payment was withheld. The balance owed on the contract was well over the amount necessary to complete the remainder of the contract. I too am an unhappy party to this complaint. I wish things would have worked out better for both of us. Without resorting to any personal attacks on Mr. and Mrs. Knight I will just say that they were very difficult customers to work for and leave it at that.

Review: In August of 2015, my wife and I contracted Mr. B[redacted] to remodel our basement and kitchen. We paid him over $25,000.00 with more due when we had to stop the work due the shady workmanship of his foreman. We expected Mr. B[redacted] to make good on his promise to return and fix the problems but he never did. I had to fix them myself. I have video to show the nature of the poor workmanship, the incomplete job, and the mess he left us. I have other contractors who came into my home to collaborate our claim.Desired Settlement: I would like money returned. I am not sure what the exact refund should be and would like some advice on this. In addition to a refund, I would like to see that Mr. B[redacted]s' foreman be dealt with by the authorities, if, indeed, Mr. B[redacted]s' claims are true.
