Review: My car broke down on [redacted]. State Trooper [redacted] of [redacted] stopped, and with another motorist pushed my car into the middle turn lanes. The Trooper called a tow truck from a company he said would be reliable. (Incident report # available upon request) Detective [redacted] was kind enough to wait until the truck from Bala Motorsports, driven by [redacted], arrived. The Trooper said that the hook-up fee would be $80 and then it would be so much per mile. I asked to be towed to my home, about five miles away. The driver, [redacted], was courteous and worked quickly. He called for a price, and when we go to the house, he said the charge would be $175. I spoke with someone from the office on [redacted]s cell phone, and said that was too much for approx five miles. They were going to take my credit card number over the phone, but when I complained, the lady at the office said that the officer should not have told me what the hook up fee was, and then checked. She confirmed the $175 and now it had to be cash. [redacted] drove me to my local [redacted] bank and I took out $180. I doubted that I would get change anyway, and he himself was courteous so I just told him to keep the extra $5. [redacted] also mentioned that when people don't pay, they take the vehicle and charge for storage. He did not say that he was going to do this to my car, but I believe he was letting me know that he was going out of his way by driving me to get money. I said to him that most people do not carry that much cash on them, so that the storage fee seems like a scam. This tow truck apparently was on the list as approved by the State Troopers, and there was a [redacted] sticker on the truck. This is why I trusted them, but that fee was not worthy of the trust of the State Troopers or the [redacted]. I spoke with the [redacted] office and they suggested I call 311, but the company and I are in [redacted]. I called [redacted] and complained that this company is not worthy of the [redacted] name and got the name of [redacted], someone who is involved somehow in these endorsements, to whom I also plan to address a complaint. I will be writing a letter to the Inquirer Business News department as well, naming this company.Desired Settlement: 1. I would like half the price of the tow returned. 2. I would like Bala Motorsports to be investigated by [redacted] and re-evaluated for their suitability as an approved tow company. 3. I would like [redacted] to re-evaluate putting their respected name on this tow company's trucks.
