Baldwinville Garage Reviews (1)

I brought my car to this garage and told [redacted] that a smoke test had been done and the results were that I needed to replace the evap canister because it was cracked. He agreed to work on it and perform his own smoke test, he claimed there was no crack in it and instead changed my catalytic converter. I do not know why he change the wrong part and he did not inform me of this decision until I picked up my car. the bill for this was $929.07. once I left the garage my engine light came back on, I brought my car back the following day, he rescheduled my car to perform another smoke test, this time he saw the crack. He then put epoxy on the canister to try to fix the crack and all over underneath my car for the entire day and epoxied parts together. when I went to pick up my car, he informed me of what he had done and wished me luck, as I drove my car for about 20 miles the engine light was back on. I then brought my car to ron bouchards where they did fix it for $1765. Some of this high cost is because of a part epoxied to the canister that would usually be reused.Desired SettlementI would like my money refunded $929.07 plus the $130. for the part that I had to purchase because of it being epoxied to the canisterBusiness Response Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I disagree with what [redacted] has responded with, [redacted] is [redacted] father, [redacted] was not there during the conversations with Robert nor was he there at any time that I picked up my car.My car failed inspection at [redacted] for emmissions, exhaust leak I brought my car to [redacted] where it was diagnosed and a flange gasket was replaced and a smoke test was done - results canister found to be cracked Quote $850. I do not know where [redacted] got his figures. I brought my car to Baldwinville Garage to have the evap canister replaced this did not happen. Robert did not call to explain why he thought the converter needed to be changed. I have a copy of my phone records for that day which is proof that they did not call me until 3:17 and then again at 4:15,the cars ready. I was charged for 3 hours labor so how could this be? As you see [redacted] sais in the 2nd smoke test large leak evap. Robert told me he could try to fix the problem with epoxy, he can try to get in the cracks of the canister and there were also pin holes in the hoses which he would also try to seal,(also epoxy part) I picked up my car and he wished me good luck. Please keep in mind the epoxy did not seal the canister which had to be replaced. would you want someone to try to epoxy your car problem?
