Bam Bus Engine & Transmission Reviews (1)

Review: On January 8th 2014 I went to bambu's shop to pay the remainder of my bill and pick up my car. The first thing that was wrong was my car battery was dead brand new battery that was because they forgot to take it disconnect the battery from the car for the past 6 months which is on someones incompetence everyone everyone everyone knows that you disconnect the battery if your car is going to be sitting for a long time otherwise the battery life will be drained. Second thing was in my car was missing two cylinders so they had to fix that then my car was shifting hard so they had to fix that too. I asked the owner "Is my car fixed properly?" He replied, "Yes." Then I asked him "Why is my spedometor not working? It was working before I took my car there." They tried to say it was a bad fuse. I drove my car back on the 15th of January 2014 headed for North Carolina. It took 5 days to get to North Carolina because I had to keep stopping everytime the car check engine light came on or the car transmission kept trying to shift down. I paid a repair shop in Albaquerque and in Texas to access what was going on with the car. They identified loose wiring and warned it needed to be taken to a transmission shop for a full diagnostic chech. Bambu's engine shop charged me $650.00 to fix my transmission and they did not for #1 put a description of what they fixed on my transmission. They just took my money and lied and said they fixed it.Desired Settlement: Now I had to put it back in the shop on January 22/2014 at [redacted] ph ###-###-#### I would like to be reimbursed for the cost to have my car fix properly.

Response:

Before Mr. [redacted] had brought his vehicle to my shop, he had originally brought in the short block (engine without the cylinder heads). He and his mechanic wanted me to change the piston rings and the rod bearings and as for the cylinder heads, they were taken to another machine shop (B&R Automotive). Mr. [redacted]’s mechanic installed the engine into the vehicle. Due to not being a qualified mechanic, his workmanship was very poor. He did not connect the oil pickup screen correctly and this caused low oil pressure which ruined the crankshaft. I notified the mechanic of the problem and he said go ahead and do whatever was necessary. Before we pulled the engine out, we noticed that the transmission wasn’t shifting correctly. We again notified the mechanic and he said that the transmission just needs to be topped off with some transmission fluid. We added more fluid and it still didn’t solve the problem. Mr. [redacted] and his mechanic said to go ahead and figure out the problem. We pulled both the engine and the transmission and sent the transmission to the transmission shop. The mechanic at the transmission shop told me that the solenoids were bad. I authorized the mechanic to replace the solenoids, check the torque converter and seal up the transmission with seals and gaskets.

Mr. [redacted]’s car was towed in to my shop. When the car arrived at the shop, we started the car and the engine was knocking and the transmission wasn’t shifting. Mr. [redacted] and his mechanic said go ahead and fix them as needed. At this time I had no idea that Mr. [redacted] was going to drive the car to North Carolina. After almost 6 months later, Mr. [redacted] came to pick up his car and told us that he was going to drive his vehicle to North Carolina. If we had known that Mr. [redacted] was going to drive his car to NC and when he was going to pick up his car, work would have been done differently. We were waiting for Mr. [redacted] and thought that he might be picking up his car tomorrow or next week. He didn’t give us any time and he shows up after 6 months to pick up his car. The tags on the vehicle were expired so we couldn’t really test drive the vehicle to make sure everything was fine. We did not disconnect the battery because we were under the impression that Mr. [redacted] might show up any day. We kept his car at my shop with good faith and he was not charged any storage nor did I put a lien sale on his vehicle. At the time when he picked up his vehicle, I had asked him to drive around locally for a bit before driving out to NC. He said he had driven to San Francisco and back to Stockton and he was impressed of the job done. He said the engine had gained more power and the transmission shifted really well. If the car had been close to me, I would have warrantied my work. I don’t think Mr. Jason should complain for the price he paid. Thank you.

Sincerely,
