Review: Virginia Consumer Protection Act, which includes performing contracting without a license in its long list of “prohibited acts.” Virginia Code s. 59.1-200(46). Also: Not fulfilling their contract. BAM Home Repairs has not fulfilled their contract as to painting the rooms as discussed in our contract. They started a week early because they asked and were a week or more over their quoted contract dates.

According to the DPOR License Look Up, for Virginia, the License has been expired since 2009, since you need a current license to conduct business for over $1,500.00- they charged us $2,500. The License No. used on their contract used is for another company which too is expired in 2011. BAM is violating the law by not having a Class C contractor’s license for this and similar jobs. Not only that, but BAM appears to be unincorporated; the only similar name registered with the State Corporation Commission, an LLC called “BAM Home Improvements LLC,” has been “purged,” meaning it was revoked or cancelled and not renewed for over five years.

Finally, when they came back to "touchup" their work on 02FEB16 (two colored sides of all doorways), stroke marks on ceiling in living room, spots of white paint on the blue, no paint clean up on the tile, wood trim and cabinets, and horrible lines from ceiling to wall, which I was told is "normal because they are freehand" lines.

They did not complete the job because they "ran out of money" even though the bid stated it included all materials and paint.

They are no longer welcomed into our home to complete the work.

We will overlook their shoddy job and find someone to fix their poor paint job and complete what they were supposed to do per their contract- since we do not want them in our home again. We are not looking for money but that they do what is expected legally.
