Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
I opted to enroll my son in Bambino Montessori School because after speaking to *** I was convinced that this woukd be the best to my sons conditionI paid *** $per week to teach my year old son whom has been diagnosed with Intellectual DisabilityI spoke with *** on many occasions prior prior to paying enrollment and admin feesAs a single mother it would not be wise to pay an institution almost $per month and then instruct my child not to listen to themAs parent with a general education background I would never waste my money by driving out of the school district we live in everyday for him disobey and not listen to teachersFurthermore, the school accepted my son's educational needs by modifying his workShe never mentioned that she woukd not honor him being classified as a 5th grader coming to her schoolIn fact, she has always identified him as 5th gradeBambino has never provided any documention to me in reference to my child's behavior or his education downfallsI would ask her on a weekly basis how he was coming along and the teacher would always have a smile on her face and tell me my child was doing greatI began to nudge *** on a weekly basis for a process reportShe never gave me any reports the entire yearShe has always verbally given me updates, which made me very uneasy about her school*** did not take accountability for the emotion and verbal abuse my son endured at her institution, she did not even address it in her responseI have a text message, whicu I will attach with her cell phone number as listed on her websiteShe stated in her last message that she does not just skip kids alongIf *** would have requested school records from Sherrod Elementary like she said she would, she could have seen with her own eyes that my child was in the 5th grade before entering her institutionThe text message she sent contradicts her response: *** said she would meet me and give me a report card saying my son is promoted to 6th grade if I agree to not take legal action against her.

Miss [redacted],    We have spoken on this topic extensively, and In our final conversation I was the one who explained to you that we were not able to move [redacted] further.  My purpose is not to offend you or your son, but the Montessori system of education is not a good fit for every student.  Due to the requirements of being ambitious and having the desire to move forward academically.  A child must be motivated to succeed in a Montessori system.  I told you that the school was not a good fit because we were not able to motivate [redacted].  As far as any official diagnosis this paperwork was not provided to me.  So I was never aware of any learning disabilities.  This is the responsibility of the parent to make us aware.  We do not request transcripts from a child's previous school because we do our own assessments.  So it is irrelevant that his previous school placed him in 5th grade because when he came to our school he was assessed at a 2nd grade reading level and a 3rd grade level in Mathematics.  In our initial conversation you had told me that his previous teacher had said that he was at a 3rd grade academic level.  So you knew that your child was not performing at grade level, and if you recall we had several conversations about how our school does not provide traditional report cards and we place the student according to their academic progress.  Enrolling and spending the year in our school is acknowledging and agreeing to this.  Our policy as stated in our enrollment form says that parents may set up and appointment to meet with the teacher and see their child's progress at any time.  As a concerned parent since you were conferencing with the teacher then it means that you knew he was working at a 3rd grade level.  We do not conference or address concerns at the time that a student is picked up.  And we do not complain about children in passing.  And since you continued to pay tuition and keep him enrolled it means you were okay with that.  It is true in the past we have only given final report cards at the end of the year.  We may be changing that system this year, but it has always been our policy to give accurate report cards as you were told at the beginning of the school year.  Since [redacted] did not pass the 3rd grade released STAAR for Math or Reading I can not give him a passing report card for the 3rd grade.  I did hand you a report card and you told me you did not want it and returned it to me.  So please don't say that you didn't get a report card.  You got a report card that you didn't like and you decide not to keep it.  Yes it is true that my we tried to make you leave the school alone by giving you what you were asking for.  I do not have the time to deal with all this unnecessarily so yes it is true that I agreed to give you what you want if you just leave us alone.  But you refused.  So it seems you just want to make a lot of unnecessary noise.

[redacted] was enrolled in our program, and after assessing his level we found that he was barely able to understand the 3rd grade materials.  In reading he was put on a 2nd grade curriculum and in math, science, writing, history and grammar he was put on a 3rd grade...

curriculum.  We explained to mom that while we do follow the TEKs and the state curriculum the key components of our program is placing students at a level that will give them the opportunity to work independently because we teach students to take responsibility for their education. We do not just move kids along.  We had many conversations with mom about [redacted] not wanting to get his work done, we showed her what he is working on and explained that his progress is slow because he often refuses to complete his work.  At the end of the year I administered a 3rd grade Reading and Math test, he failed both.  I spoke to him alone about why he didn't work hard to pass.  He told me his mom had told him that he did not have to listen to us and that she would teach us a lesson.   I sat with his mom and spoke to him about why he failed.  He told mom it is because he didn't care about school.  This was the beginning of May.  At that time I told her that we could not do anything for him and that she might as well take him out.   She asked for a report card, and I explained to mom that the report card would be accurate and state that he is working at a 3rd grade level.  She accepted that and when I gave her the report card she looked at it and threw it back at me.  Our school and my teacher worked very hard to teach [redacted] so with services being rendered Ms. [redacted] is not entitled to any refund. [redacted]
