In your letter, you clearly state that the dress was dirty… “[redacted] said the bottom of the dress up to 1 ½ feet was covered in dirt and almost mud. There were a lot of stains on the front”. This is a fact which I have acknowledged multiple times. The dress was indeed dirty, hence the reason for needing professional dry clean service. What you do not mention, however, is that the dress was damaged in any way upon receipt. This is because the dress was, in fact, not damaged upon your acceptance of it for cleaning. After your employees processed and cleaned the dress, there was damage. Your statements practically admit that the dress was not damaged upon receipt but was damaged after your company processed it.
You also make several mentions of the dress being fragile, which is also true. The dress is very fragile and very expensive, which is yet another reason I required a professional dry cleaner service. This does not, however, excuse you from being liable for damaging the dress. There was no liability waiver, no fragile garment waiver, or anything of the like signed by myself. The fragility of the dress does not exonerate you from responsibility for damages caused by your equipment.
The fact that you have cleaned other dresses successfully and have included pictures of those dresses has no bearing or significance in this situation. I remain steadfast on my request for you to provide full compensation to repair my dress.
- 8 yards of soft tulle at $89 per yard
- 8 yards of horse hair fabric at $59 per yard
- Cost of seamstress, 10 hours at $25 per hour
