Terrible bankI specifically mentioned upon opening an account that I did not want overdraft protectionCharging overdraft fees is a predatory practice that should not be allowedI even initialed the documentation for opening the account specifying that I wanted to waive overdraft protectionWith the intention of later closing the account, I brought my balance below their minimum thresholdThe account was later "fee'd out", meaning they charged me so many fees for having a low balance that they closed it for goodNot only did they take all my money, but they brought the account into the negative using the overdraft protection that I did not requestAll of this happened without so much as a phone callNow they have sent the matter to a collection agency and I supposedly owe them moneyBank of the Ozarks will not get a thing from me or anyone I knowThey are a very unethical group of people and I will not support it
This is a warning to anyone considering using this establishment to finance any type of loan. My mother purchased a car in Alabama over a year ago which also included the addition of GAP insurance. The vehicle was totaled out after being involved in a car wreck. The GAP insurance requires specific lender information that could only be gotten from said company. Bank of Ozark is the lender for the car loan. My mother and myself have been communicated on numerous occasions, over 8 times in the past 2-3 weeks, with various associates at the location tied to ([redacted] requesting them to send Letter from their establishment that contains the following information: Lender's Name, Loan Account Number #, Lender's address where the GAP Benefit should be sent, Pay-off Balance as of the Date of Loss, and Loan Payment History. We have been promised that this information would be sent via email and mailed through postal services on 4 different occasions but have yet to receive anything. Additionally, the car insurance provider had been requesting verification on sending the settlement check to them for 2 weeks as of yesterday still had not gotten the information they needed.
Additionally, the wait time to actually speak to a person is a minimum of 30 minutes.
I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company for any financial business.
Terrible bank. I specifically mentioned upon opening an account that I did not want overdraft protection. Charging overdraft fees is a predatory practice that should not be allowed. I even initialed the documentation for opening the account specifying that I wanted to waive overdraft protection. With the intention of later closing the account, I brought my balance below their minimum threshold. The account was later "fee'd out", meaning they charged me so many fees for having a low balance that they closed it for good. Not only did they take all my money, but they brought the account into the negative using the overdraft protection that I did not request. All of this happened without so much as a phone call. Now they have sent the matter to a collection agency and I supposedly owe them money. Bank of the Ozarks will not get a thing from me or anyone I know. They are a very unethical group of people and I will not support it.
