I would like others to know about this company's pricing structure I believe it results in grossly overcharging customers for the work performed
The company works off of a fixed price structure where each particular type of repair is associated with a total cost charged to the customer They refuse to provide a breakdown between parts and labor They offer a discount on parts ("preferred pricing") if a customer pays extra to enter into a maintenance agreement The least expensive maintenance agreement is currently $169/year for two HVAC checkups per yearIn spite of calling this a discount on parts, the company still won't tell you what they're actually charging for the part
In order to provide a point of reference with amounts, I paid the company $to replace the contactor in my HVAC unit That price included a $service call fee (this amount was provided by the telephone operator who initially set up the service call with me) Taking out the service fee, the remainder is $ I have since learned that the RETAIL cost of a contactor is somewhere between $8- I can only assume the rest of their price is meant to cover labor The job at my house took the repair technician no more than an hour to complete (and that is being very generous) I'm pretty sure I could hire a top notch attorney to be on speed dial for $435/hour
I asked a different HVAC professional in town for an estimate of what they would charge to do this same repair job and was told around $100, possibly a little more since the work was completed after business hours on a Saturday afternoon (no more than $150) The service technician for Banks Quarles stressed the urgency of making the repair right away in order to get the unit working properly again Considering the near 100-degree heat we're currently experiencing in Alabama, and the fact that it was the weekend, I felt I had no choice but to make the repair as recommended by this company
I believe the price charged for my repair job was extravagant and I will never use this company again Furthermore, I will warn anyone else who asks for an HVAC recommendation to avoid Banks Quarles at all costs unless money is no object and you enjoy overpaying and being underserved

It was necessary to install complete new heating/AC units in my Tuscaloosa home in June The installation technicians faced several difficulties, including the intense heat, and were unable to complete the installation in day Because of scheduling issues, and despite numerous calls to B&Q regarding the situation, the installation remained uncompleted and unsatisfactory until Carl Cbecame involved last week
It was necessary for MrCto make separate service calls to diagnose and repair serious mechanical problems in the initial installation MrCwith dogged persistence and excellent technical knowledge, went far beyond what the other technicians/installers had done in order to correct several complicated problems with the new system - and make me, the customer, very happy with both the technical support he provided and the new system

Nick W[redacted] is The Man! He has done a fantastic job troubleshooting and repairing our HVAC system over the past year and we would never want anyone else to work on it. Nick is highly professional, very smart, and just has the mentality of a true problem solver - and keeps the customer's needs first and foremost in mind. 10/10; highest possible ratings!

I called banks quarles january 22..at 6:50 am and ask foe someone to come out and fix my commode and put washers in 2 bathroom sinks to keep them from leaking....I ask if someone could come as soon as possible because it was a group home.. I also ask if someone could call before they come and the person on the phone said they always call 30 min..before coming so you can be expecting them..I gave him 2 phone numbers and told him that I woud be at one of the 2 numbers at all times today...I called back at 2:00 pm and talked with a lady and she assured me I was still on thier schedule for today..at 5;00Pm I called back and ask did they work at night too because no one had called me yet..the lady that I talked to said she would call the tech and call me back.. a few min later she called back and said they would come the next day..when I got back home at 5:30 I had a message on my home phone that they had called trying to come .. I gave 2 different phone numbers and called them 2 times to check my appointment...why didnt anyone say we are trying to contact you ??/I dont think I will ever call them again for anything...I AM STRESSED OUT WITH BANKS QUARLES>>>

We just want to say the folks we've dealt with at this company are real sweethearts. Since early November, we've had an issue with a new heating unit. It needed to be replaced and even after they replaced it, there were still issues owing to all sorts of stuff. But never did I see any of the repairmen give up (even though we almost gave up). Part of the issues involved the defects that possibly occurred during manufacturing or shipment. We also have pesky chipmunks who were also wreaking havoc, creating holes that created an exhaust issue. That and the oil smell, which is now almost minimal, were real bothersome. Greg's sense of humor and commitment was especially appreciated. Nick's professionalism and that of the others including Jimmy were joys. We're crossing our fingers that all will be well as we journey on through the winter with a visit from a pest control company next on our go-to list.
