Banner Construction Co Reviews (2)

In your first letter, you asked us to “respond in a professional, fair and courteous manner.” I had hoped that Banner would maintain this, instead of using the first paragraph as a means of discrediting us There are also statements about what my wife was thinking, which seems presumptuous While we kept in contact with [redacted] during the project, he used personal stories as an excuse for not responding to our concerns The two responses to the Revdex.com include a bunch of presumptions, blanket statements, and mudslinging from Banner and a firm wish to not have anything negative published The evidence that is mentioned are progress photos If you would like photos, we have some from every day that work was done, the contract, pamphlets, emails, and texts By disputing the claim entirely, how does Banner explain the delays caused when they forgot the extra insulation we paid for? How do they dispute the length of time this project took? How do they dispute that their team of two became a team of one person who was given the task of completing over 75% of the job without any help? The noise associated with the project was expected for the timeline that was agreed upon, which was going to be two to three weeksThe project lasted over three months, from March 28, to August 11, 2016, with a one-person crewHe worked many weekends and until after pm during the weeks and weekends We have small children that still require naps and an early bedtime Nail guns and saws do not create good sleeping conditions We wanted the project to be finished and finished correctlyWe did not scream or yell, but we did express our displeasure several times with how long the project was lasting to everyone associated with Banner that we talked to We were told that they were making every effort to finish the project quickly several times throughout the project In our opinion, “making every effort” at minimum would have included additional workers being assigned to the project This did not happen The extra insulation that we requested was used to upgrade the R value of our homeIn addition, the soffit was sold to us as a means for helping to improve airflow into the attic, per [redacted] the sales personHow could that happen when the original blocks used to protect our attic space were still in place before being covered by pieces of soffit? This slows the ventilation further instead of promoting itThe StPeters Building Inspector said that Banner was in compliance, but in good faith knowing we wanted better airflow should have removed the blockingWe do not have any documentation from StPeters, but the Inspector did say that if the increased airflow was what we discussed, then removing the bird blocking was supposed to be added into the contract by Banner Construction as the General Contractor, but was not We learned what bird blocking was after the attic starting heating up with the new insulation and soffit in place We have been unhappy with the outcome and are unsure how ***, in charge at Banner, could think we were happy about it The flashing around our chimney is nailed on top of the roof shingles by Banner The flashing creates holes and funnels water underneath the roof tiles and down the inside of our chimney, per a third party roofing company that we had look at it It was stated that the flashing should never be installed on top of the roof shingles and creates water issues The water running down underneath the siding created a way for water to penetrate and flow into our basement under our chimney We have no idea who [redacted] is The company that looked at our roof was a specialist on storm damage and hail to homes When we asked ***, the sales person, about hail damage he kept saying that he can’t imagine why there wouldn’t be as he had pictures of the golf ball sized hail from the gutter guys who were up there when it was hailing Yes, they installed our new gutters that we waited months for during a hail storm The main roofing guy for Banner checked and said there was hail damage Banner asked us to have the inspector come out again to go over what he saw with them Banner didn’t show up so the second meeting was rescheduled to another day and they did meet with the inspector Through all this Banner kept saying that they felt there was sufficient hail damage to our roof We asked a third party roofing company to look at our roof after the second visit from the inspector The reason we asked Banner originally to look into the roof was their gutter installers were on our roof while it hailed and had pictures that showed the hail damage It was a strong argument to have them look at our roof and at that time they were still working on the siding and we had no idea all the issues with Banner that were in our near futureBanner corrected the fascia in AugustAfter several unprofessional responses from Banner, we did not feel comfortable contacting them any further The bottom line is that we believed that we were doing the right thing by going with a company that had an A plus rating with the Revdex.comIt turns out that was not the caseWe are not happy with our experience with Banner and wanted to warn other consumers about our experience with the company We would like to have repairs made to our roof so water is no longer channeled behind the siding and the bird blocking removed to improve air flow in our atticPlease note that all complaints, concerns, and issues about Banner during and after the project were felt by both myself and my wife, and not just my wife as previously stated, regardless of who communicated our concerns to Banner

The project in question was completed last spring (2016) and this complaint comes one year later without any notification or opportunity to address the current concern with a water leak. Had we been contacted by our client, requesting an inspection or a repair, Banner would have been pleased... to send a service crew to inspect the chimney at the roofline, determine if this is the source of the leak and make any repair necessary to correct a defect in our work. The chimney had extensive wood rot from water leaking prior to our work and the water could be coming from areas outside our scope of work. We stand behind our work and as noted, we’re more than happy to repair any defect in work performed by Banner. I recommend our client give us this opportunity. With regard to the removal of existing bird blocks in the soffit area to increase ventilation in the attic; this issue came up at the completion of our work. This was a disputed issue so at the time, we reached out to St. Peters Building Department for guidance and the inspector notified Banner in a written email that our work was in compliance with the current building code. All other issues that were listed, were properly addressed and corrected as the project progressed. At the conclusion of the job, the client indicated that in spite of their frustration during the construction phase, all work was completed to their satisfaction and made their final payment in full. We regret that our client is not completely satisfied with our performance. We are prepared to make any necessary repair to uphold and honor our obligation to them. Sincerely, Banner Management
