Had a very negative customer relations experience with these guys. While the place they gave me was somewhat affordable and relatively roomy, it was pretty stained and smelled like cigarettes (which they covered up during my initial visit). Don't expect any fancy or comfortable from them, but do expect them to push their limits to try to scam you if they can with dodgy tactics and long, unreadable contracts.

Most of the bulbs burnt out in my first few months and I had to get new ones, then the dryer stopped working for the building and they refused to replace it. As in, they said they would replace it eventually but never actually sent out a tech to fix the machine. Very disappointing overall and I would never ever go back to them in the future unless I was forced

Review: Since July 18th, my apartment has been overrun with mold. My upstairs neighbor had a leak of some kind and failed to report it. I even went upstairs and asked her. She lied and said no even though her floor was covered in wet towels at the time. There was water that smelled strongly of mold leaking down my walls and into my carpet. I called the B.A.R. and reprted it. They would not send anyone until the next day. Maintenance came and looked. He also noted the mold smell and water leakind down my walls as well as bubbles under the paint. Nothing has been done yet. I called again a few days later as the paint was peeling and my window and wood around it is rotted. No response. I called again a few days later and when the maintenance man came, he noted black mold growing from my walls and ceiling. I and my daughter are allergic to mold and black mold is dangerous enough. Then 3 weeks ago, the upstairs neighbor's children caused her toilet toflood. Again, she neglected to report it and threw moldy towels on the floor. At 2am, my ceiling in the bathroom collapsed, luckily not injuring anyone. I called the "emergency line", which amounts to an answering machine 3 times over the course of 2 hours. Finally someone answered. Maintenance came and looked but I still have no ceiling in my bathroom. Called again, left message, no response. My clothing in my closets are now moldy. All of my ceilings have black mold. My windows are rotted. My winter coats are moldy as well as my daughter's. All towels, bath mats, etc. in my bathroom had to be thrown away. I now have to buy all this again, which I cannot afford due the neighbor's and business's negligence. My daughter and I are both having allergy related problems(rashes, congestion) as well as respiratory ailments. My apartment is unsafe to live in and we are occasionally staying elsewhere when able to get a break from breathing in toxic mold. Also, the washing machine has been broken for 3 weeks, which hinders trying to wash the ruined clothes.Desired Settlement: I would like $ deducted from rent and towards replacing the clothing and other belongings that are ruined and must be replaced as well as have these problems attended to. I do have photos of the ceiling in the bathroom (or lack thereof), moldy ceilings elsewhere, rotted windows, moldy clothing and moldy belongings if needed. These will be submitted to the health department if not taken care of.

Response:

We have taken the time to gather information and records before responding to your letter

that we had received concerning apartment D-27. And although our reputation is being

put to the test and you will publicly post the information at hand we have no intention of

deliberately wanting to criticize our Resident in anyway but to state the facts.

Included you will find copy of work orders written for our personnel and also a notice

that was posted on the Residents door because we had no response from her either

telephone or letter.

The Resident did call us with the problem with water coming into her apartment, and on

each occasion we responded within the legal time required, in fact with in a couple of

hours of the complaint regardless of the hour and the office being closed. It was noted

that the Resident above was at fault one time and had been notified.

Never at any time did our office receive a letter with the list of damages as stated in the

complaint. Never at any time were the maintenance personnel told or showed damages to

personal items. If that had been the case, we would have asked for a list of each item,

pictures of each item and if that could not have been provided, arrangements would have

been made for someone from our main office to meet with the Resident in their apartment

for the items to been viewed and we would have taken the pictures. Also, we would have

asked the Resident for proof of renters insurance for which is required by our lease

agreement. The Resident would have also been asked to write or provide a written

statement of any conversation between herself and the Resident above for whom she was

blaming for the damages. There would have been an investigation for deliberate cause of

damages to the apartments below. If there was proof found that the Resident’s children

were the cause then it would have been handled according to the lease agreement

requirements.

The damages caused to the apartment below D-27 was fixed and there had been some

problems found in the apartment above D-27 and they were repaired and corrected before

the Resident’s in D-27, because she has not provided a proper telephone number and had

not responded to notices left at her apartment door. Which a copy of a form is included

for you to see, This form was given to each Resident when the company purchased the

rental property for which she resides, and as you can see the information is very slim to

none. Even the note put in with her latest rental check, which I have also enclosed shows

no telephone number, nothing about requesting a meeting with our office or having

someone from our office to meet with her and review the damages or to discuss any

financial restitution.

On October 7, 2013 as shown on the notice that was posted on her door we entered and

repaired and replaced her vanity and removed drywall, replace the ceiling in her

bathroom and painted. Not one time since that notice was put on her apartment door and

the work has been done have we received a telephone call from the Resident inquiring

what our intentions were or to discuss anything pertaining to this ssue. We would be

more than happy at any time to sit down and discuss this matter with the Resident and

resolve any other issues that she may have.

Residents must take the proper steps to protect themselves and their personal privacy and

belongings, but, as a Landlord, the fact to noti& outsiders as the Revdex.com first, without

contacting the Landlord first either by telephone or letter as to what the problem or

concerns are is unfair actions taken against the Landlord before even giving them the

opportunity to correct the situation.

Sincerely,

Response:

I am sorry, I have not checked my emails as the case was closed. I am a bit confused by the response of B.A.R. The Revdex.com was ignored for 1 month for them to dig up 4 pieces of paper that should all be in 1 file? This is the problem, nothing is taken care of in a timely fashion. Also, I have filled out paperwork with all of my information for the previous owner (who transferred the info to B.A.R.) and filled out a new form when they took over. What they I said I filled out is not my writing??? Honestly, my name isn't even on the paperwork. Noone knows how many people live with me? One page says I requested a new hot water tank, which I did not (is it even my info?). The date on the complaint when my ceiling collapsed is wrong. I have called multiple times and noone wrote the number down seeing as they "don't have one on file"? There have never been any letters mailed to me prior to this week and nothing ever left on my door. If there was, it was either left on the wrong door or someone took it down before I saw it. Not the most reliable method to reach a tenant. I see the complaints they have copies of but never what was done to fix the problems (because nothing was done). The flooding was left to mold the first time it happened which is what caused the damage, not the initial flood itself. It was the neglect to fix it. You can see by the photos, everything in my place is molding. And the problem is STILL ongoing. No dehumidifier ever brought in, nothing. There is also black mold on my ceilings. Why would anyone be expected to live like this and then find out noone has any records of them anyway? I did just receive a letter in the mail asking me to call the office and discuss the matters with them and will let the Revdex.com know what happens at that time.
