The customer arrived with several problems aside from her transmission. We immediately recommended a rebuilt transmission but the customer declined and...

opted for a used transmission. We replaced the transmission and several other parts, including supports, a transmission mount, axle bearings and driveshaft joints and a support, and informed the customer she had a one month warranty on the transmission. This was not OUR warranty, it was the warranty given by where we got the used transmission from. We tried to keep the price as low as possible as the customer was already having difficulty covering what was done. After our repairs were completed, we briefly road tested the vehicle just to ensure the transmission was running fine, and it was. We were not able to extensively road test because the vehicle had several other issues, including problems with the steering column and brakes, and it was not safe. After a month, warranty expired) the customer returned and said that the transmission was still slipping and not running right. When asked why she didn't bring it in sooner, she had no reply. Because the warranty had expired, we tried to help her out by offering to fix the broken parts inside the transmission. Not an overhaul, just to see what was broken and replace it. This was also when we recommended the harness. This was when the customer got upset and refused further repairs and took the vehicle. She took the vehicle to another shop and they told her the same thing about needing the harness. She then went and ordered the harness from a local dealer but never picked up the parts. We’ve tried to contact the customer to work with her but she no longer replies.

Complaint: 10432013
I am rejecting this response because:
I am still dissatisfied with Barber's Auto Repair Shop because they did not
fix my issue that I started with and they are the cause of my business losing money every day.
I do not deny any claims from [redacted] but I would like help in resolving my problem, in that I
would like a portion or my complete refund. Finally, my truck is still parked because
[redacted] always asks for more and more money from me!
Regards,
[redacted]

In our first letter we explained the facts as best to our knowledge and signed documents by customer concerning this case. She didn’t want work done that we recommended and got same diagnosis at another shop. Unfortunately she disregarded the warranty that we informed her of She didn’t return vehicle up till after a months time of warranty as explained to customer. I understand that shes in a position of dissatisfaction but we stand by our actions. In regards to resolving this issue, were in the disposition to repair vehicle but not in reimbursing. If she brings the necessary parts for repairs we will do the labor. This is what we are willing to compromise in all fairness. She has not returned for any further visits as stated as far as us asking for more money.

Review: On November 11,2014, I paid $1,500 to mechanic [redacted], to repair my transmission. We agreed on to change the existing transmission via one that he had purchased. Subsequently, the transmission was not effective due to the fact that my vehicle kept sliding, and would not recognize the change in gears. He never took the vehicle on a road test, he that was OUR responsibility. One month later, we asked [redacted] to fix our issues that arose from his labor and services, but he neglected. Instead, [redacted] asked for more money than initially quote. (1500+300) And he stated he did not have a warranty. The additional $300 was for more repairs that the purchased transmission needed in the first place. (1500+300+200) After all of these problems, [redacted] wanted me to pay $200 more for a harness wires and additional cables that were needed for the same purchased transmission; instead of including all of these amounts at the beginning of our discussion in order to repair my problem. In conclusion, my business has been greatly affected by Barber's Machine Shop Auto Center, because [redacted]'s is very unreliable. I would not recommend [redacted] or associates at Barber's Machine Shop - take your repairs somewhere else. I post this in hopes that it prevents someone else from walking in and getting horrible repairs that (as of February 2,2015), are still needed to be fixed. It's a shame it had to come to this.Desired Settlement: I would like to resolve this matter via refund due to the fact that I still have the same transmission in my vehicle that needs proper replacement. I need the full amount I paid ($2081.50), to take my vehicle elsewhere for repairs.
