Barbizon of Raleigh

Since May 2014, we have been trying to get our money back from Barbizon.May 3rd 2014 (Saturday) - [redacted] signed the contract and put down $300 for enrollment. The contract stated that she could back out within 72 hours after signing. Later that day, she decided that she could not afford it and she wanted to cancel the contract and get her money back except for the $100 dollars that was to be kept if the contract was broken.May 5th 2014 (Monday) - I called the office in the morning to tell them to call me because [redacted] wanted to cancel the contract. I told them to return my call, however, by 5pm, I received no return phone call. That afternoon after work, I drove to Barbizon to tell them [redacted] wanted to cancel the contract. I spoke with the director who said she would talk to [redacted] who managed the business end of the company, and that they needed a written letter stating that we wanted to cancel the contract. I told her that I had tried to call that morning and asked for a call back, but received no return call. The director stated that she did not handle the business end because of health conditions - she had been having chest pains - and left that to her daughter. I left and went home, and returned at approximately 815 that evening with the letter. I was greeted by [redacted] to whom I told that we wanted to stop the contract, and she told me that they were closing up for the night, and that she would call me in the morning. I received not call from [redacted]May15th, 2014(Thursday) - I attempted to contact [redacted] at 645pm regarding the letter I dropped off on the 5th, and was told by the receptionist that [redacted] was teaching a class at the time and could not come to the phone, but that she would take my name and number, and have [redacted] call me back, probably by Saturday, May 17th. May 18th, 2014(Saturday) - I attempted to call [redacted] at Barbizon again, since she had not returned my call today. I told her that we had given her a letter breaking the contract, within the 72 hours of signing is and that I wanted my $200 back. And that I would appreciate it if she honored her part of the contract. May 19th, 2014(Monday) - [redacted] and I went to Barbizon at 6 PM and spoke to [redacted] about getting the $200 back. She admitted to getting my phone messages, and that she had submitted the paperwork to her accountant and that it will take 90 days before we get the money. I told her we will be back in touch with her in 90 days if we did not get the money. October 6th, 2014 (Monday) - We still have not received the check as promised. [redacted] called [redacted] at Barbizon and told her we did not get the check as she said we would in September. She claimed we would have a check within 2-3 days. This was said after we told her that we were going to take out a small claims suit on her for not returning out money. [redacted] also said that we will go to the newspaper and the media with this. It was then [redacted] told us that we would have the check by Friday, October 10, 2014.October 10, 2014 (Friday) - We still have not gotten the check as promised by [redacted]. We planned to wait until Monday, October 13, 2014 before calling the media and the Revdex.com. November 2, 2014(Sunday) - We have not received the check that was promised by [redacted], in October. Desired SettlementWe want our money back. We honored our part of the contract, but Barbizon has not, after several attempts to get it back
