Dear Ms. Scheuermann: This letter is in response to Kelley [redacted]’s complaint, ID [redacted]. Ms. [redacted] is a bold faced liar...

and con artist.  First of all, she has NOT had several issues in the past with me about scheduling.  I have only groomed her dogs 3 times; one of the schedule changes was made by Ms. [redacted] and the second was due to my coming down with a stomach flu. These two dogs were EXTREMELY matted.  As a professional groomer, I would like to explain what a “mat” is and how they can affect a dog’s skin.  Golden doodles have the thickness of a golden retriever and the curliness of a poodle.  Therefore, from a grooming standpoint they are very high maintenance.  Golden doodles should be groomed every 4 – 6 weeks.  Ms. [redacted] lets her dogs go approximately ONE YEAR between grooms, so when I groomed them on November 10th they were in very bad shape.  When skin is covered with matted fur, the skin cannot breathe and red raw sores can form.  You cannot see these sores when the fur is long, as Ms. [redacted]’s dogs were.  The only solution to this problem is to cut the mats out, which involves taking their fur very short, which is what I did.  The more irritated the skin becomes, the more a dog will lick the area, causing the fur to become even more matted. The dog’s saliva, along with the fur being wet from rain, swimming, humidity or bathing, creates a warm, moist environment for bacteria to grow.  It becomes impossible for the sore to air dry because of the thick, matted fur. I clipped the dogs very short to remove the mats.  When I left the dogs with Ms., [redacted] on November 10, she had no complaints. She paid me and thanked me for the 3-1/2 hours I spent on her dogs (this should have taken me 90 minutes had the dogs been groomed regularly.) Once the dogs were short, the sores from the matting became visible. Ms. [redacted] took them to her veterinarian and claims he/she said the sores were from “burns.”  However, I used a guard comb over the blade, which makes burning the dog impossible.  Also, I have a clipper vac which continually cools the blades, again making it impossible to burn the skin.  Furthermore, Ms. [redacted] has not produced a copy of the veterinarian’s report; in fact, she told me via text that it was another “groomer” who said that I burnt the dogs, not the veterinarian.  I have been grooming for 8-1/2 years and have never once “burnt” a dog with clippers.  I have over 200 very happy, satisfied clients.  This woman is trying to make me pay for HER negligence. I am a small business, an LLC, and am infuriated that she would insinuate that I “hurt” animals. Nothing could be further from the truth.  I love animals and the entire reason I went into MOBILE grooming was to spare the dogs any more stress than absolutely necessary while being groomed.  Ms. [redacted] is taking me to small claims court over this matter; I am counter suing her for lost wages due to the time it has taken me to respond to her and the missed day of work from having to go to court. Please contact me at [redacted] or [redacted] if you would like to speak to me further about this incident. Deepest regards, [redacted]Owner/OperatorMobile Pet StylistBark Avenue Mobile Pet Salon

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I am rejecting this reaponse because I have made the decision to take further action and as [redacted] states we will be resolving in court.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]
Regards,
[redacted]

My dog was a client of BarkAvenue for nearly 5 years, until he recently passed away. He loved her - was not afraid of her in any way - willingly went with her into the van each and every time she came to groom him. He was groomed from 2010 - 2015 every 6 - 8 weeks. That is approximately 30+ groomings. She also groomed my sister's dog on several different occaisions when she lived at my home. She went out of her way to be kind, gentle, thorough with the dogs. She cared for them as if they were her own. I had never met her before the first grooming, but recommend her highly. The only thing I wish were different? I wish she groomed cats too! :-)
