Our experience with the Barn Livin concept of a design - build approach to affordable, energy efficient, custom built, and owner friendly housing works very well. The added use of 3D rendering of elements of the project was very helpful in visualizing before the work began and as a comparison after completion to verify the vision. Barn Livin, LLC has the experience and knowledge necessary to design a project that meets relevant building codes, energy efficiencies, specific special physical needs of the owner and within the budget of the owner.During the construction management phase Barn Livin worked well with the financial institutions, regulatory agencies, legal requirements, trades contractors, material suppliers, and owner to produce a well budgeted and scheduled finished home. In addition Barn Livin worked well with us to advise on schedules and costs to assure timely ordering, delivery and payments throughout the construction phase. Key elements of any project of this type are team communication, cooperation and collaboration. These were a priority throughout the project.

The owner of Barn-Livin? has a long and varied employment history which makes her a natural fit to operate this business. Add to that the fact that she gives back (we met at a charitable organization where she exercised her skills.). Sue is just a down to earth, wonderful person building wonderful homes!

Awesome talented Really tough Got it done

Design Process went very smoothly. I had a small learning curve because I had zero experience in any kind of design. There were many examples of the Barn Livin ' to look at and visit. The whole design went quickly and really matched up with the finished product. Schedule. Design was completed in Sept. , 2015. Then was financing and foundation work. That work was done in Nov. Then we had to wait until Feb. 22, 2016 to begin to build house. It went really fast. Ready to move in 3rd week of June, 2016. Absolutely had a blast working with Sue O and the Amish and Mennonite construction crews. Sue was on site almost every day. Very reassuring. I don't think it could have been built any faster or more professionally. Budget. To my surprise, the final cost versus the estimate for the basic house we're only over about $2500.00. We went way over on upgrades to fireplace, appliances, fixtures, and lighting. This was entirely on us. If we had stayed with Barn Livin' design plans, we would have been pretty close to even. I was so pleased with Sue O honesty and kindness. She went out of her way to be sure we reached all our goals and was always on top of the costs. She was sure to warn us of every change we made that caused the price to go up. She never once misled us. I would be pleased to talk with any interested party about our positive experience with Barn Livin'.

The overall design of my home was amazing- move than I could have asked for! And the ease of designing it with Sue and her team made it a truly enjoyable experience. My confidence in the process and what my home would look like dramatically increased based on the ease of the design process. Once the build began, the process remained on schedule. I heard about schedule delays from other companies but in my experience with Barn Livin?, everything was right on schedule! Got my home on time and it was better than I dreamed of! The price for the service I received and the finished product is amazing! I have a beautiful home custom built to meet my needs and design whims, and all at an extremely affordable price. This house is truly a home. I love it.
