New roof 5 yrs. ago and have had leaks and ruined ceilings. Have had them here 3 times and problem not resolved. WE RESPONDED TO EACH OF HER CALL BACKS QUICKLY AND FOUND THE SOURCE OF HER LEAKING TO BE PLUMBING VENT PIPES BETWEEN THE CEILING AND ROOF THAT WERE ASSEMBLED WITHOUT GLUING THE JOINTS ALLOWING RAIN WATER TO LEAK OUT ONTO HER CEILINGS. ALSO THE METAL CHIMNEY STACK IS RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR AND WE FEEL SHOULD BE REPLACED TO ASSURE WATER DOES NOT TRAVEL DOWN THE CHIMNEY INTO THE CEILING. WE COVERED THE TOPS OF THE VENT PIPES TO ELIMINATE ANY QUESTIONS OF THE ROOFS INTEGRITY AND TO OUR KNOWLEDGE THE LEAKING HAS STOPPED IN THOSE AREAS, BUT THE CHIMNEY AREA CONTINUES TO LEAK. WE WILL INSPECT THE ROOF AGAIN DURING A HEAVY RAIN AND DOUBLE CHECK OUR CONCLUSIONS. THERE IS SOME CEILING DAMAGE FROM ICE DAMS THAT WAS PRESENT BEFORE THE NEW ROOF WAS INSTALLED SHE MENTIONED WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Most of their statement is true with the exception of ALL leaks occurred AFTER the roof was installed. Why these issues were not brought to my attention when installing roof is beyond me. I have the expense of REDOING the ceiling that were done AFTER installation of roof, approximately $2000. But yes, they did come out each time and inspect. I am addressing the issue of vents. Again, the whole issue could have been avoided if I was informed at the time of installation. Thank you. Final Business Response As we stated in the last response, we went back to the home again during a very heavy rain storm and found no evidence of roof leaks since the tops of the sewer vent pipes were blocked off to prevent rain water from getting into them and leaking onto her ceilings because of unglued fittings. we had no way of knowing she had unglued vent pipes in her crawl space at the time the new roof was installed. only after the 2nd complaint did we suspect plumbing problems and we immediatley covered the tops of the pipes to prove the roof was not leaking. The way it was left with [redacted] was she must contact a plumber and install new plumbing vents at the fixtures and have him close off the pipes on the roof. The new roof was never leaking, it was the plumbing vent pipes that were improperly installed. The ceilings that were repaired in other areas need to have stain blocker used before painting as the old stains have shown through the new paint.
