Barnes Solar Reviews (%countItem)

I purchased 21 Solar Panels in October of 2017 and they stopped working back in July 2018, 9 months after I purchased them. In November, 2018, I received a settlement bill from Edison stating that I owed $238.73. I investigated and learned from Edison that my solar panels had stopped working back in July of 2018. The accumulated loss due to the panels not working adds up to $1013.15.

Here is the breakdown of the loss:
From July 1 to July 20th $264.84
From August 30 to October 1st $203.72
From October 2 to October 30th $81.56
Summer Months Credit 47.02 (Summer Savings)
Settlement Bill paid 11/2/18 $238.73
November 2018 Bill paid $90.85

Barnes Solar Response • Nov 05, 2019

The customer is correct that nine months after she received permission to operate, the SolarEdge inverter failed. Unfortunately, no one caught this failure until the customer received a true-up bill in November. After receiving the true-up bill, the customer reached out regarding compensation for lost production. We immediately conducted a service call and replaced her inverter. Her system has been up and running again since December 2018 and is actually outproducing original production estimates. We explained to Mrs. Garcia that we did not manufacture the inverter and thus cannot possibly be held responsible for its failure and even though our terms and conditions (which she signed) clearly state that Barnes Solar cannot be held liable for failure of products manufactured by other companies. We offered to compensate Mrs. Garcia in the form of a one-time cash payment of more than $300, which, after calculations, was more than we actually owed due to the inverter malfunction. However, Mrs. Garcia did not accept our offer and chose to pursue other avenues of recourse. We certainly understand that Mrs. Garcia is entitled to her opinions and we are more than willing to continue to fulfill our contractual obligations to service the system in the event of an issue. However, we are not willing to pay Mrs. Garcia the amount that she desires as we are not contractually obligated to do so and have already tried to go above and beyond when it comes to responding and helping her.

First of all, when I received the true-up annualbill in November 2018, I had previously communicated concerns to Jake *** via telephone. I caught the failure when I told Jake for the first time that there was “red light flashing”; he told me not to worry about it. I have the ATT logs that prove when these calls were made. Secondly, when I signed the contract with Barnes Solar, I was NEVER told that the manufacturer was responsible for any type of malfunction. Why does Barnes Solar sell a product that is not willing to back-up? When I asked Jake what were my responsibilities as a solar customer he responded that Barnes Solar gets a trigger that alerts them when the system is not working or when there is a problem. Again, I signed their contract with inaccurate disclosure from Barnes Solar. Lastly, another inconsistency provided by Jake *** was for compensation from August through November, he told me that “if your system overproduces energy you don’t use the electricity you accrued you will lose it at the end of the true-up annual bill, you don’t get refunds from Edison” which is also untrue since last month, November, 2019, I received a refund check from Edison after having the system worked properly for an entire year.

I’m requesting compensation not only for the true-up bill but also the usage amount accrued monthly after the converter stopped working (info provided by Edison). I did not accept their offer then nor will I accept it now, my next move will be taking this complain to the local Small Claims and let the judge decide on the outcome. Due to my planned summer vacation in 2019; I was not able to not pursue this claim sooner. However, I’m planning to file in the next few weeks to finally have this issue resolved by a third party.

and what my responsibilities were as a solar customer
