Barnette Painting Reviews (1)

In October, 2014, we solicited a proposal from Barnette Painting for painting our home--his quote was: "Power wash house, repair wood rot, paint all siding and trim using [redacted] products, and seal deck.Painting/$3,200. Wood repair/$400. Sealing of deck/$250 this includes all materials this included preparing the home for painting". He seemed sincere and trustworthy and the painting seems to be good. However, with the winter weather approaching, we did not have an opportunity to take as close a look as we needed. In early Spring we noticed the rotted wood that had not been replaced before painting, and contacted [redacted] in the Spring(April 1) to let him know that we had noticed some wood that should have been replaced while he was painting the house. He sent an Email on April 9 indicating he would come by and take a look and take care of it. After multiple emails, he phoned us to say he'd take care of it. When we didn't see or hear further from him, we sent additional emails, and he finally came by in late-October, 2015 and told my husband he was going to order the supplies and make the repairs as soon as possible. I confirmed everything to him in writing on Oct. 27, 2015, and asked that everything be done in early-November. Needless to say, we haven't heard from him since. I emailed him today and told him that while we thought we had been extraordinarily patient, I planned to file a complain with the Revdex.com today. (Note: he also did a poor job of cleaning/sealing our deck ... but we decided not to pursue that in lieu of getting the rotted wood repaired.)Product_Or_Service: House Painting/Wood RotOrder_Number: N/aAccount_Number: N/aDesired SettlementWith his lack of dedication to the job, despite his website claim that says "...we strive to make sure all of our customers are satisfied no matter what it takes", we are now not comfortable with trusting his work. I think at this point, because there is no trust factor in his providing satisfactory services, he should refund the $400 he charged for wood repair ... since he didn't finish fulfill his service promise. Business Response I have no problem with taken care of this matter and it will be.I do although have a problem with the customer expecting me to take care of it for nothing.they walked over the house after we completed the job and signed off on it that everything was taken care of.the customer is complaining about rotten wood which can not be warranted 5 months later. If this was a issue it should have been spoken of at time of job.I will although take care of it at my expense but would rather do so without having to make contact with customer as this has not made me very happy.Consumer Response Mr. Barnette's comment is surprising since it was in his initial quote to repair all of the rotten wood. The wood we were able to view after the winter weather did not rot in 5 months. It was simply overlooked because it was not that visable from the ground thus we didn't see it initially. The painter on the ladder would have seen it but chose to ignore it and paint over it. His many promises to take care of it and now his declaration to take care of it at his expense is unbelievable. We do not want someone of his character back on our property and would prefer that he return the rotten wood portion of the initial quote--this way we don't have to chance another unpleasant encounter with him. Again, if we can see these rotten wood areas we can't be sure that there aren't more .. We do not want Mr. Barnette back on our property, period. Final Business Response I'm really sorry this is turning out like it is.my original quote for wood repair was $400 there was more than 400 dollars worth of repairs done but I said nothing about more money I just did them,I have offered to stick to my word and come and make the repairs she has mentioned at my expense,so as far as a refund on her money I think that is out of order, again I will take care of repairs if she would like.
