Review: We were qualified for the Home Rehab Program. Despite spending $21,000.00 in January 2014, for two new boilers and plumbing installation, our unit and my mother's 2nd floor rooms were always 20 degrees colder than the rest of the home even with the thermostat set at 70 degrees. (Two boilers were for two different units.) During the one-year warranty period we sent over twenty emails for various problems with the system like boiler leaking, lack of power , lack of proper heating yet most responses if any were without regard by [redacted]. Due to this, my elderly mother finally had to vacate her rooms by mid-December 2014. Within 5 weeks of the warranty period expiring by February 17, 2015 the pipes burst in my mother's bedroom causing extensive water damage to floors, walls, ceilings and circuitry. Though the Home Rehab Program was designed to eradicate slums and blight, our home is now in worse shape than before the performed by [redacted]. ; and, our home is uninhabitable.
Licensed contractors viewing the damage have related to me that [redacted]'s work was not up to code. For instance, he installed baseboard heating along with our cast iron radiator system all on one system; and, he did not provide two heating zones. These were the source problems leading to inconsistent tempetures among the rooms. Also, he did not give the boiler it's only circuit it, the boiler is connected to the overhead light circuit. A hidden junction box was found in that area also. His plumber smoked during installation even when I advised him that my son suffers serious asthma. And much more. His manner was completely hostility from the start. He claimed he was angry with me because I asked during contract signing if his employee was bonded since he would be working alone in the basement with my mother's entire inventory of antiques and collectibles. When I asked him if I could keep the old copper piping , he was in my driveway on the cellphone using the "f" word. There was only the most fundamental communication by him to me. As the daughter of a building contractor and a landlord, it is my belief that [redacted] cut corners with our job both for personal reasons and to save expenses for a bigger profit. Anyone who hears this story is in complete disbelief. [redacted] had many chances during the warranty period to respond to my emails; and, to correct all issues; but, I was admonished instead........, "You did not ask for two heating zones."
Please note that a history of emails dated November 2013 through March 2015 support the events described above; and, are available upon request.Desired Settlement: Pay our [redacted] $4000.00 deductible.
Correct the problem of baseboard heating and cast iron radiators that are all on one system.
Provide two heating zones and two thermostats.
Pay for the ** ELectric Bill surges occuring when contractors had to address damages.
Pay for any damages not covered by [redacted]
