I would like to thank you very much for contacting Barry Updegraff LLC. Barry has removed the defective area and replaced the area that has been discussed. We satisfied with the repairs. Sorry I did not respond sooner as work has had me a little overwhelmed. Again, thank you so much for responding to our complaint.
Sincerely,

Review: In May 2013 we had Mr. Updegraff replace a front porch and added a front stamped patio. The front porch looks good but the front patio had an area that was unacceptable. I asked Mr. Updegraff about this area and told him that this did not look good and I had asked him what happened. He had said that the stamp stuck. He went on to say to give it some time and it will lighten up but if you are not happy with it just contact him and he will make it right. At this time I trusted what he said and expected him to stay good on his word so I paid him the full cost for the work. I had given this area some time and it did not get any better. It looks like it was filled in because of error made by them and the color does not match the rest of the patio. I have pictures during the process of the patio being done and when I looked back at the pictures it shows a form placed in this area after the original patio forms were removed. This area is at the front entrance to the house and is very noticeable. Mr. Updegraff had filled the front area up to the patio up with dirt which covered the cavities at the front edge and now that the ground has settled it is very noticeable. I did not contact Mr. Updegraff until after the winter season since I was always told not to have concrete work done during the cold season. I first sent Mr. Updegraff a text message with a picture of the area on April 3rd explaining the issue asking him what he can do to make it look better and that this area does not look good. I called Mr. Updegraff shortly after this and left a message explaining the previous and asking him to please get with me letting him know that I am open to options but to communicate with me to set up a time to look at the area and get this resolved. I sent another text message with a picture of the area on May 30th also explaining again that I had given this area some time now and it still does not look any better since Mr. Updegraff told me that he did not get the original message on April 3rd. On June 2nd I received a text from Mr. Updegraff which said " I'm back in town I did stop by your gonna have to be patient waited all this time I will get there". The reason I waited as I said earlier in this statement is because that's what he told me, to give it some time. He then stated that he was out of town and he doesn't take business with him. Mr. Updegraff stated on his next text that he may have to cut out along the front edge and stamp a different pattern. Mr. Updegraff stated in his text that there is a chance that the existing pad may get cracked during this process. Mr. Updegraff then offered to pour another pad or patio for us which is not what we want. We want the patio fixed that has the imperfections in it. Mr. Updegraff responding by stating in the next text that he will do whatever we want. I asked again in a message that I sent to Mr. Updegraff on June 12th if we could get together to discuss this to make sure we are on the same page. Mr. Updegraff then responded "maybe better getting free patio and letting it go". On June 19th I responded to Mr. Updegraff letting him know that the front patio is an eye sore and please work out a time that we can look at it together to discuss. On June 20th Mr. Updegraff responded to say sorry to get back to you so late and we can fix the patio and then see what else you want done. I spoke with Mr. Updegraff on the phone he told me that I needed to be patient that this repair might have to get done between jobs. July 11th Mr. Updegraff responded to my text stating he had knee trouble which set him back and that he as playing catch up. I thanked him for communicating and wished him a good recovery. On August 6th I sent Mr. Updegraff another text message stating that I haven't heard from him asking when he would be by to do the repairs? Shortly after this Mr. Updegraff stopped by and sprayed temporary markings on the lawn by the area of the patio which needed repaired. On August 22nd I sent Mr. Updegraff another text message asking when this area will be cut out and worked on. Mr. Updegraff responded he is coming at the end of next week. On September 10th I sent Mr. Updegraff another text message when the repairs are going to be done. I also called and left a message on his business line asking when this would be done and that I feel like I am being swept under the rug. I have not gotten a response as of today which is September 16th 2014. As of today guests ask me why this area looks like it does in this spot of the patio and I have still been kind enough to tell them who did the work and that Mr. Updegraff said he would be back to fix it.Desired Settlement: My wife and I just want the front patio to be repaired as it should have been done at the end of the job and to have a good looking entrance to our residence.

I want to thank you very much for your time. I hope this complaint will open the eyes of Barry Updegraff Concrete to understand that everyone deserves to be treated as a valued customer and not just swept under the rug after payment is received. I sincerely tried multiple times to meet with him to ensure we were both on the same page with getting this resolved. Now that I have filed this complaint Mr. Updegraff has finally set a date to do the repairs of the job that should have been done correctly the first time. I will reply when I get the final results when the repairs are completed.
