final inspection. The client marked everything with blue tape and I fixed everything marked. I had no idea he expected the outside of the door leading into the house to be painted. As far as the baseboards go he texted me it looked great (see attached texts) all left over materials were scraps that were put in his garbage can and 2 boards were left in his garage. I never left with any boards. The client paid me in full minus $40 for a can a paint which I left a full can unopened in his garage. I requested to get the can of paint since he deducted it from his bill with no response. I am happy to go back and fix anything he feels needs to be fixed and I wish he would have called and discussed this with me. The door thresholds were painted correctly. The problem is they are 30 year old thresholds with many dings and dents - paint is not going to make those thresholds look new - he needs new thresholds which I suggested. I take this very seriously and customer satisfaction is my number 1 priority.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2015/12/02) */
[redacted]Document Attached[redacted]
Most of what [redacted] responded with is factually inaccurate. Why would I have [redacted] back to my house when he chooses not to speak with me over the telephone? He knew we were upset about the work he completed, as we had already asked him a couple of times to come back to the house and fix his mistakes. [redacted] bellyached about fixing his mistakes and tried to pass blame on the issues. In many instances he refused to fix what we had marked and requested. If [redacted] properly prepared the trim (e.g., sanding, spackle, de-glossing, etc.), then the majority of the issues would not be present. Furthermore, I shouldn't have to argue about whether one coat of primer and two coats of paint have been applied. It is apparent that a proper number of coats were not applied in many instances (see attached pictures). Lastly, I have never seen so many drip marks from painters before...these aren't imperfections in the trim, as they appear all over the trim and not just in areas that have been worn over the last 23 years. I also shouldn't have to request multiple times that the top of the trim be painted given you can see the top of the trim from the second floor of my house. Also, what is the excuse for installing a broken piece of trim (see picture)? I had purposely set aside one piece of base board, as it was broken and I figured [redacted] would either use part of it or cut the broken piece out of the board, but no, [redacted] chose to not touch base with me and install the broken piece of base board.
Again, given [redacted]'s actions and the way he spoke to us, he is no longer welcome in our home. I'd like a refund so I can hire a professional to come and fix [redacted]'s work.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2015/12/04) */
As much as I would like to make this customer happy it is obvious he is lying and misrepresenting my work. I have already provided texts from this client stating how happy he was with the baseboards. The client wanted to paint and caulk the boards himself in order to save money. Again you cannot make a 23 year old house look new when the door casings are in as bad of shape as the ones in these pictures. I have gone back twice to address any issues that he had marked with blue tape - everything was taken care of. Client paid in full minus the can of paint he still owes me for. The client paid in full AFTER job completion and I had not heard anything until he registered a complaint with the Revdex.com. I warranty all my work and am happy to send one of my guys out to the house but will not give him a refund. Again, I have been serving the Castle Rock area for over 5 years and this is my First Revdex.com Complaint.
