Barth Mudjacking Reviews (2)

We had a representative from this company give us an estimate. They provided an estimate and we decided to use this company for the work that needed to be done. For some unknown reason a second person came to look at the job prior to starting the work and advised that the job was underestimated which was not our problem. We called to have them complete the work and no one ever returned our calls. Finally we spoke to someone who said that they could not do the work based on the estimate. Don't waste your time using this company as you will need to have someone else do the work anyway.

Review: We rebuilt a deck this year off of the back of our house. The steps attached to the current sidewalk landing pad. The mudjacking company stated on the quote that I would have to have the bottom steps removed when they came out to do the work. When they arrived, [redacted] told us that he may have to cut the chunk of cement that the steps are attached to free from the slab so they wouldn't damage the steps by jacking them up two inches also. I thought this would be OK. I left the step off after they were finished because I had to travel for a week the next day. When I came home the stairs was about 1 1/2" lower on one side than the other. The slab they had cut away apparently had a void under it and sank. I contacted Barth's right away via voice mail. I heard absolutely nothing for several days. I called during the daytime and the secretary told me her son had been out to look at the damage a few days ago and would be calling that afternoon. No phone call. Another four days went by and I did receive a call. Ty stated that there was nothing they could do, the stairs "must have been under some sort of tension and pushed the slab done" and "you should have leveled the sidewalk before you rebuilt the stairs". To which I replied, the stairs are not under any tension at all. As a matter of fact, they were just sitting on the slab and then screwed into the anchored 2x6 that was on that slab. Additionally, we did not have any money for mudjacking, but thought we could get it done this year and he should at least be happy he got our business. He kept reiterating how it was not his fault, didn't know it would happen, thought we could live with the angle, and was basically not going to do anything. I asked about at least a partial refund to pay for repairs - split post, twisted stairs, and somehow need to level the stairs out in a non-code conforming way. He just kept denying any wrongdoing or even apologizing that the repairs now needed to be made. I promptly hung up the phone.Desired Settlement: I would at least like a $75 refund from the $550 we paid them. This is to purchase new lumber that is damaged on this staircase. It obviously won't pay someone to fix the problem so I will have to figure out the labor myself. If you do not want to contact them, at least keep this on file. I already called several other people that were waiting for our project to be done because they were also interested in getting mudjacking work.
