I am rejecting this response because: A representative from the company was here a week ago todayI have not heard from them since and we have not discussed any options for a resolutionHe said when he was here that he was going back to the office to check his records and discuss the situation with his business partner and that is fine but I have the feeling they might deny responsibility and blame the problem on clay soil shrinking because of dry weatherI have three responses to that: One, I paid to have the surface prepared properlyTwo, none of my neighbors with asphalt driveways are experiencing the same problemThree, the driveway began cracking in June before the weather got so dryAlso, there is a lot of cracking that is not as severe as the cracking the business has referred toThe company representative told me this is but I don't accept that it is in a two year old driveway

on site inspection has been done, & contact has been made with the customer.  damage is from issues with the clay soil below the limestone base.  we are talking options with the customer for a solution to the issue.  i will provide more info, once a resolution has been agreed upon

We have met with the owner on multiple occasions. the customer has a high retaining wall and the driveway sits on backfill. the retaining wall was leaning before we started the job & the customer was informed of this. Upon inspecting the site,...

the retaining wall has continued to lean & the resulting fill has settled below the driveway surface resulting in the cracking & sinking. We did not supply the pre-existing fill material. Also, the customer was made aware that there was some shelf rock that could not be removed to the right side of the garage. the asphalt would need to be a bit thinner on top of the high protruding shelf rock to avoid water entering the garage. If a full 3 inches of asphalt was to be added in this area it would have been high enough to direct rain water into the garage. the customer was verbally made aware of this fact before we started work. At no point has anyone from our company said that we underestimated the asphalt & as a result made the surface thinner. We shared the fact to the customer, that we had used more asphalt than intended.

the issue & He had made 1 attempt (to my knowledge) to contact us afterward, to which I returned the phone call. I gave the customer a description of the different types of asphalt available when I was setting up to do the work originally. I explained to him the coarse mix was stronger, but would look rough until it was seal coated. Seal coating can not be done right away until the asphalt has had time to cure (approx 12 months). I will offer to provide a seal coat when the surface has cured. We will sealcoat the surface free of charge for him. Hopefully this will restore his faith in the product.
