Basic Basements Reviews (1)

I have emailed a reply to an email that I got from [redacted] and her attorney was CC'd.  My only goal in this matter is to complete the basement as agreed to in the signed contract.  My reply to her and her attorney is as follows:Dear Mr. [redacted] and [redacted],As I have...

apologized personally to you about the delays in your basement and we sat down and discussed the difference in the figures, you and I have come to a conclusion to the amount. But by your own admission, NO PHASES of the contract show that a bathroom was to be completed.  Per the signed contract, not email it is as follows and this is the "signed contract":Phase 1:framing and electrical and permits$11,134.00Phase 2:Purchase sheetrock and materials to hang it$2400.00Phase 3:tape and texture walls and materials$3250.00Phase 4:4 doors with trim, 4 door knobs, baseboards window sills$1400.00As per the beginning of the contract, it outlines that there was to be (1) bedroom and (1) bathroom but as you and I discussed, we were only "framing" the bathroom as you were on a budget.  Then after framing was done you changed your mind and wanted the bathroom completed.  We agreed that the bathroom cost would be $2500 added to the contract.  You and I agreed to the amount of $15,924 for the "original contract" due to my miscalculation when I totaled the numbers. So we are in agreement of the $15,924.  But then there is the addition of the $2500 for the bathroom finish.  Your actual total is $18,424.00.There is a HUGE difference in a bathroom finish vs herring bone tile layout, stacked stone and a custom shower labor.  At no point did either of us agree that I wold do a custom bathroom for free.  The contract you and I signed does not outline any activity that is a bathroom finish.  Of the remaining balance that you paid the electrician an amount to complete their work. You have a balance of $2500 plus the deficient balance from the original contract.  You cannot expect that I pay for a custom shower when your contract specifically outlines the labor/materials breakdown and NO BATHROOM is included in that.  MY SOLUTION:The cost of the doors, knobs, baseboards and door trim and window sills would be approximately $1,000.  If you purchase the materials, I will go to your home and finish the remaining work at no labor expense allowing us to get the final inspections. Then with that you wouldnt be paying the $1500 plus the remaining balance from the contract.  if you purchase the materials remaining, the work will begin immediately. I look forward to your reply.David K[redacted]
