Basic Drafting Group

We were referred to Paul Latimer dba Basic Drafting group by our builder, Granato Custom Homes. We started the design process in November 2020, with preliminary plans provided on December 29, 2020. Those were the first and last set of plans we received from Paul. He promised them to us after meeting with him in March, in two to three weeks. I finally had to block my number in the middle of May to get a response from him. Then, we were promised the final plans to be delivered on May 28th. He stopped responding. We called Mark Granato on June 10th and said Paul had 10 days to provide us the plans. On June 23rd after still not receiving any plans and them not being done yet per an email from Paul, we terminated the agreement with Paul. After paying Paul 2,200 dollars, in June, Paul agreed to give us a full refund in exchange for us sending the one set of plans he provided us back. We did and he received them on June 29th. It is now September and although Paul has sent us several emails stating he would refund us our full amount, he still owes us $1,500. Please do your own due diligence on Paul Latimer before paying him any money. The reviews of him and his company all day the same things, and have for years.

I ask for a deposit of $300 to start the project. Which I did do. I normally charge $200 just for an preliminary elevation plus there is my time meeting them on a Sunday. They decided to terminate me. And they expected something for nothing. And on me charging them more money. I suggested if they wanted a different type of elevation. I would have suggested that I send it to an artist. And it would have cost extra. But it would have been pay to the artist. Any other architect or designer would have done the same. They will not receive their $300 back. It was used for time & services that was provided.
