Basin Property Management Reviews (%countItem)

On 11/27/19, A large piece of the roof of the apartment complex where I live blew off and crashed into my windshield and hood, damaging both. I called Basin Property Management Inc(BPM)immediately and there was no answer so I a left message. I took pictures of the damage to my car and the roof pieces as they lay. Afterward I started bagging up the roof pieces. My neighbor heard the crash from the roof hitting my car and came out and helped me bag up the pieces. I took the bag in my house. BPM did not call. I emailed my Insurance company all the photos and description of the damage to my property.
On 12/2/19, I called BPM, a woman named Diana answered and stated that they did get the message my car was damaged from the roof and the Manager Cathy *** wanted me to send photos of the damage and would call me later. I emailed the same photos I sent to the insurance company. 12/16/19, still no call from BPM. I called and Diana answered. She stated *** was leaving soon for surgery but would have her call me with an answer. She also stated that she thought the Owners looked at the photos and did not think any damage would have been done by the roof but she would have a manager call me.
1/10/20. No call from BPM and no one ever came to my home to ask me questions or investigate. I had to replace my windshield for safety reasons. Was replaced on 1/10/20 in Moses at ***. It was cheaper to pay for the windshield than the deductible of my insurance. 2/14/20, at my apartment, Diana from BPM was handing our flyers stating an apartment inspection for 2/17/20 from 9am to 12pm. I told her I had still not heard from any management regarding my damaged property and I still had the roof and did not know what to do with it. Diana stated *** would call me.
2/17/20, waited 9am to 1pm for inspection. No one showed. BPM did not call. I called BPM. No answer, left message to callback and also discuss damaged property from November. No callback. Negligent customer Service.

Basin Property Management Response • Mar 06, 2020

I, Cathy, did speak to Ms.. I told her I would speak to the property owner regarding this. The property owner is nonresponsive. I have no way to take care of this myself as I only work for the property owner and am bound by our contract. I can gladly give Ms. contact information to the property owner so that they might resolve this issue. I am no longer going to manage the properties after the next two weeks. The property owner and I do not see eye to eye on repairs and maintenance, they are more concerned with their bottom line. I wish I could do more to help Ms., she has been a perfect tenant during my time with these properties, always paying on time and very pleasant.

I am rejecting this response because:

I received a call on 3/6/20 at 11:25am from Basin Property Manager Cathy. Cathy apologized on behalf of Basin Property Management for not returning my calls stating the reason being the owners of the property, Summer Rentals, never returned her calls regarding my damaged property. Cathy then stated she would no be managing the unit I am living in as of two weeks time. I said I needed someone to address this issue because its been months. Cathy stated since she was leaving I would be dealing with the owner Susan ***. I thanked her for contacting me, yet nothing was resolved. I do not understand no response on this issue for months from anyone. I have lived in my current apartment for 16 1/2 years without incident. I am extremely disappointed that this matter is not being taken seriously. I have been very patient with this issue. My property was damaged in November 2019 and its now March 2020 with no response. I would appreciate it if the Revdex.com would please continue to monitor this situation so I don't get forgotten. Thank you very much.

Sincerely

While I understand Ms. frustration with this situation, it is out of my control. If she can't get a response from the owners, I don't see how I am supposed to. I have also spoken with my insurance broker, not theirs as I do not know who theirs is, and he stated that damage caused by wind is not something for which they would be responsible. It is considered an act of nature and out of their control. I can do nothing. This should not reflect upon me and my company.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I was confused by Basin Property Managements response. The tenants where I live at the apartment complex do no have contact with the owners or their phone numbers, only the apartment manager which is Basin Property Management. So when issues arise, we call Basin Property Management, not the owners. So I have not been trying to contact the owners these last few months regarding my damaged property, I have been calling my apartment managers Basin Property Management who chose not to return my calls or come and do an investigation at the apartment complex when the damaged occurred or after. I can understand Basin Property Managements complaints regarding the owners, Summer Rentals, not returning their calls on this matter. However, Basin Property Management is at fault for choosing not to return my calls and not managing the property safely. A letter was posted on my door this week stating that the owners, Summer Rentals, will be taking over temporary management of the apartment complex I am living in starting March 23rd. They also left a phone number to call them. I will be addressing my windshield and other safety issues with the owners now that I have their number. I am very disappointed in how I was treated by Basin Property Management. They cannot lay all the blame on the owners and not be responsible for their own actions these last few months. If Basin Property Management chooses to accept a job managing an apartment complex, then they should be accountable for it. Basin Property Management stating on 3/13/20 that they are not responsible for damage to my windshield due to the wind is the first communication I have had regarding an answer on my damaged property since it happened in November of last year. I will be addressing these issues with the owners from now on and how myself and their property were treated by Basin Property Management. Thank you Revdex.com for having Basin Property Management finally respond to this issue even though it was a poor response. I hope the Revdex.com can explain the importance of being accountable to Basin Property Management in regards to returning phone calls and addressing safety issues. There are still pieces of the roof coming off in the apartment unit where I live. I still have the section of roof that hit my car. No one ever came to see me or take care of the roof and fix it after my property was damaged in November 2019. I will be giving the section of roof I have to the owners and hoping the tenants safety is a concern for them. Thank you.

Sincerely
