Bass Towing Company Reviews (3)

ear Mrs [redacted] Thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide a response to the complaint that you received I was contacted by the State Police to tow a work truck Upon arrival, the trooper handling the incident stated that the driver had some form of medical condition that caused the truck to go off the road As part of my routine, I towed the truck to a secure site and awaited further instruction from either the owner of the truck or the insurance company The wife of the owner of the truck contacted me the day I towed it and stated they wanted to see the truck I informed them that there were tools and construction equipment in the open bed of the truck Someone representing the owners came by to retrieve the contents of the truck Several days went by without anyone contacting me Eventually, the insurance adjuster for [redacted] contacted me They confirmed that they were not going to dispatch an adjuster until the truck was delivered to the body shop In my experience, the insurance company would typically send a wrecker to where I've housed the vehicle and they would pay me the full amount of the tow plus storage fees This did not occur Instead, the insurance company wanted me to drop the truck at the body shop without payment It is not a common practice for any towing company to release a vehicle without payment being made in full I was very clear with everyone that the bill needed to be paid before I could release the vehicle and the customer, the insurance company and the body shop all seemed confused about who would pay The claim indicates that the fees charged were excessive I disagree The total charges were based on the cost of the original tow plus the daily fees incurred while I awaited payment. The claim also suggests that I was unprofessional and that I was rude I disagree In fact, when I tried to confirm details with the owner, he was belligerent and he appeared to slur his words leaving me with the impression that he may have been intoxicated which could explain his harsh tone I have a solid reputation and I stand by that To be clear, no one cursed and there was no yelling. The claim also suggests multiple tows occurred That's accurate but it's important to note that the additional tows did not result in any additional fees The owner was charged for a single tow plus storage To be frank, I towed the truck to my personal residence in an effort to help the customer keep the contents of the truck protected I have limited space at my home so after a few days I moved the truck to my secured lot where my towed vehicles typically go.The claim also suggests that I refused to tow the truck to the body shop even after being offered cash I disagree The owners of the truck wanted me to drop the truck at the body shop for the promise of cash at a later date The common practice for any tow company is to obtain the full payment at the time the vehicle is delivered. Finally, the claim suggests that even after speaking to the insurance agent and the adjuster that I refused to tow I disagree In all cases, the insurance and the adjuster promised to pay at a later date if I could drop the vehicle The golden rule of towing is that a vehicle cannot be released until the bill is paid.At the end of the day, what's relevant to this issue is that the owner, the wife of the owner, the insurance agent and the adjuster all promised to pay but could not guarantee payment upon delivery.Once the cash was brought to the body shop, I delivered the truck immediately. In my opinion, this entire scenario could have been avoided if the insurance company and the owner were quicker to respond In my professional experience, the insurance company pays the bill and does it quickly I can't speak to the methods and practices of the insurance company but I feel confident in saying that I fulfilled my responsibilities and that I did the right thing.Best regards,Charlie HB***

ear Mrs. [redacted]Thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide a response to the complaint that you received.  I was contacted by the State Police to tow a work truck.  Upon arrival, the trooper handling the incident stated that the driver had some form of medical condition that...

caused the truck to go off the road.  As part of my normal routine, I towed the truck to a secure site and awaited further instruction from either the owner of the truck or the insurance company.  The wife of the owner of the truck contacted me the day I towed it and stated they wanted to see the truck.  I informed them that there were tools and construction equipment in the open bed of the truck.  Someone representing the owners came by to retrieve the contents of the truck.  Several days went by without anyone contacting me.  Eventually, the insurance adjuster for [redacted] contacted me.  They confirmed that they were not going to dispatch an adjuster until the truck was delivered to the body shop.  In my experience, the insurance company would typically send a wrecker to where I've housed the vehicle and they would pay me the full amount of the tow plus storage fees.  This did not occur.  Instead, the insurance company wanted me to drop the truck at the body shop without payment.  It is not a common practice for any towing company to release a vehicle without payment being made in full.  I was very clear with everyone that the bill needed to be paid before I could release the vehicle and the customer, the insurance company and the body shop all seemed confused about who would pay.  The claim indicates that the fees charged were excessive.  I disagree.  The total charges were based on the cost of the original tow plus the daily fees incurred while I awaited payment. The claim also suggests that I was unprofessional and that I was rude.  I disagree.  In fact, when I tried to confirm details with the owner, he was belligerent and he appeared to slur his words leaving me with the impression that he may have been intoxicated which could explain his harsh tone.  I have a solid reputation and I stand by that.  To be clear, no one cursed and there was no yelling. The claim also suggests multiple tows occurred.  That's accurate but it's important to note that the additional tows did not result in any additional fees.  The owner was charged for a single tow plus storage.  To be frank, I towed the truck to my personal residence in an effort to help the customer keep the contents of the truck protected.  I have limited space at my home so after a few days I moved the truck to my secured lot where my towed vehicles typically go.The claim also suggests that I refused to tow the truck to the body shop even after being offered cash.  I disagree.  The owners of the truck wanted me to drop the truck at the body shop for the promise of cash at a later date.  The common practice for any tow company is to obtain the full payment at the time the vehicle is delivered. Finally, the claim suggests that even after speaking to the insurance agent and the adjuster that I refused to tow.  I disagree.  In all cases, the insurance and the adjuster promised to pay at a later date if I could drop the vehicle.  The golden rule of towing is that a vehicle cannot be released until the bill is paid.At the end of the day, what's relevant to this issue is that the owner, the wife of the owner, the insurance agent and the adjuster all promised to pay but could not guarantee payment upon delivery.Once the cash was brought to the body shop, I delivered the truck immediately. In my opinion, this entire scenario could have been avoided if the insurance company and the owner were quicker to respond.  In my professional experience, the insurance company pays the bill and does it quickly.  I can't speak to the methods and practices of the insurance company but I feel confident in saying that I fulfilled my responsibilities and that I did the right thing.Best regards,Charlie H. Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.] Of course Mr. Bass has denied all wrong doing.  [redacted]s son asked Mr. Bass the day of the accident to deliver the truck to the body shop.  He was asked again the following day when we picked up items from the truck to deliver to the body shop. During Mr. Bass's first conversation with [redacted] he offered to pay cash to have the vehicle towed.  The 2nd conversation with Mr [redacted] began with Mr Bass saying "[redacted] I don't like you."  The final conversation between Mr [redacted] and Mr Bass ended with Mr [redacted] telling Mr Bass he was a "crook".  I then took the phone and Mr Bass, yelling, told me "you tell that SOB to bring me my money!" which can be confirmed by an employee at the body shop. There was no confusion as to who would pay the towing expense.  The insurance company stated from the beginning they would definitely pay, and I paid cash after a week of several conversations with Mr Bass about getting the truck delivered.  As for excessive fees, I can not attest to that as I have never had to have a vehicle towed.  When I spoke with the Insurance Company, they were certainly surprised at the charges.  I would think they are very much aware of what the standard rates are.  Furthermore, the insurance company stated that they have a problem with tow truck drivers on occasion holding vehicles to run up the storage fees.  Aft er this experience I have found that Mr Bass only has a reputation for being unprofessional in this county.  Hind sight is 20/20, never use a tow truck driver without checking their background.
Regards,
[redacted]
