On 10/5/the customer dropped his vehicle off after hours His complaint was "won't run, turns over then dies, check engine light is on, I think it is ignition coil" Customer also noted that amount of repair not to exceed $ Customer signed after hours service form
On 10/6/at 7:am a work order with the above information was created A preliminary analysis charge of $92.00, $shop supplies, and $tax for a total of $was added to the repair order and given to the technician The technician scanned the vehicle for codes Two codes were present P(bank system too lean) and P(fuel level sensor A circuit) The technician did a visual circuit inspection and found a broken PCV system tube The fuel gauge showed FULL, we had a crank no start condition There was also ignition spark present as well A fuel pressure test showed no fuel pressure The Inertia switch was checked and found closed Power and ground were going to fuel pump as well
After inspecting the vehicle and the above findings we recommended replacing the fuel pump assembly, fuel filter, and PCV tube The customer was contacted with the estimate The customer declined the repairs The customer then called back to see what PCV tube would cost installed and then insisted that he needed an ignition coil The customer complained about the cost of the PCV tube saying he could buy the same tube from *** for $ We gave the customer a detailed breakdown of his cost and received approval to put the PCV tube on the vehicle We also advised again against putting an ignition coil on the vehicle as the customer had requested us to do The customer call back on Thursday to say that he may be out of fuel because he fuel gauge was not working We advised the customer that we could put $of fuel in vehicle and retest We also explained that there would be a $charge for the time involved to get the fuel and put it in the vehicle and retest The customer approved Fuel was put in the vehicle and it started We let the vehicle run for several hours and test drove it in the parking lot We called the customer back to advise him that the vehicle was running and that the fuel gauge still showed full and was not working properly

If we had all the information from the very beginning (example: fuel gauge not working, drove from Houston and gauge has not moved) and customer had ordered his own PCV tube off *** and install it himself, also kept fuel in the vehicle we would not be here We also could have installed the engine coil that the customer requested several time but did not need The customer was given a detailed cost every step of the way and approved each processIt was only after repair were done that the customer wanted to negotiate price
