I would rate this company at The only reason I would give them a is because one of their leasing agents are absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond to assist us My fiance and myself went to two different TGM properties in Sarasota FL this last week to attempt to rent an apartment TGM University Park was better in customer service and we loved the sales agent, however when we went across the street to look at their sister property TGM Palm Aire, we really enjoyed the upgrades in the clubhouse that the other property didn't have TGM University was willing to waive our application fees and admin fees since we're moving so far away from GA to FL to get us in and "felt confident" we would get approved, however since we wanted to go to the other property at TGM Palm Aire, we decided to apply with that location instead After calling the leasing agent at TGM PA, she stated she cannot offer us the same promotion as TGM UP and we would have to pay $each for application and $admin fee as well as $deposit, but the deposit could go up depending on our credit Although we were a little disheartened since they're the same company, we paid a money order of $for our app fees and admin fee then provided a separate money order for $for the deposit The next day, we were advised we can come and pick up our $money order but we were not approved I asked why and all they could state is that we would receive a generic letter advising we weren't approved, however they couldn't tell us a definitive answer The next day, we went to pick up the $MO and they provided us with our denial letters both stating we were denied individually due to "credit issues" Since this was so vague, I called the number from the 3rd party company provided on the letters of denial and they went over my full credit report with me No evictions, no criminal history, no credit score, no outstanding issues She stated that it's up to each Property Manager to decided based on individual "Point Systems" that they look at so it was probably just their criteria that I did not meet She referred me back to the PM of TGM PA to follow up When I called to speak with the property manager, I was advised He is out of the office for the next 4-days but there's no need for me to speak with him because he can't tell me anything more than they have told me After minutes of waiting for a call back, I was advised again that there was no reason for them to take my number and have him follow up She suggested general things that typically make people be denied for approval, however none of them applied to my situation I then asked for corporate's number and after minutes of her "searching for it" she did provide it to me I called the corporate office and after stating my name and which property I was calling in regards to, she immediately had my chart in front of her and stated the exact same thing I explained to her as well as I had the previous employees that all I wanted was definitive reason that we were not approved since we were out $with them She continued to tell me things that it "could be" (again things that did not pertain to myself) then I asked if I could have someone cosign for me She stated absolutely not because I met the income requirements and that's the only thing they accept cosigners for, but not for credit I then asked her "So basically there's nothing that can be done for us to get in?" She replied "Yes There's nothing that can be done at this time for you to get approved."
I don't understand why no one can just provide me with a definitive reason that we didn't get approved? I don't understand how someone can deny leasing to you and never provide you with any reason I would hate to think that it was possibly discrimination for whatever reason from the TGM PA community, that maybe they just didn't like us or the look of us together (we're interracial) and they went this far to cover up that there was no real reason for denial It all seems very unsettling to me and now we can't even get our $back or rent from either property I am beyond upset and disappointed with this company BEWARE if attempting to rent from the company itself
