I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Jeff Johnson’s response to my complaint is inadequate at best. I have included documents showing the tax I had to pay in person at the DMV, the original MSRP window sticker showing vehicle price $48,460, my buyers order showing the vehicle price changing to $45,483 and a balance on delivery of $38,736. Included is also the buyers order showing that everything other than a rebate and a registration fee was either not applicable or not attached symbol N/A. My question would be; was Va sales tax not applicable to me or not attached on this form? This should be an easy answer since Jeff Johnson filled out my DMV paperwork stating personal use and that the vehicle would be housed locally in [redacted] Also attached is a copy of the receipt that they gave me showing a check in the amount of $35,736 which is incorrect. I wrote a check for $25,836 and gave $9,900 in cash as well as a $3000 credit card charge which I was told was covering my down payment, taxes and fees. When I asked about the discrepancy in the MSRP and the sale price on the buyers order they told me that’s how they did rebates and holdbacks. When I asked about why is the receipt showing a check for $35,736 not a check and cash it was explained to me that Jeff likes keep the cash separate. The buyers order receipt shows that they had received the total amount paid and everything involved in the sale of this vehicle is paid. Why did the numbers on their own paperwork not match up? Why did they have me sign the bottom of the DMV form so they could fill the form out for me acting as my DMV agent. When I asked will the title be coming in the mail shortly, why did they respond yes and not mention “after we give you the paperwork in 3 weeks so you can pay an additional $1,617.42 in tax you’ll get it”Why did they keep the DMV paperwork for three weeks and not give it to me that day? Checks clear within days not three weeks so the explanation I’ve been giving on the three week time lapse makes no sense. How many vehicles does Jeff Johnson sell to local people living within 1 mile of his dealership knowing the vehicle was going to be used for personal use and garaged locally and not charge tax for that vehicle?I have purchased 2 vehicles in the past from Jeff Johnson for cash and both times the title showed up in the mail weeks later not here’s a tax bill 3 weeks later. I didn’t even know it is possible to purchase a vehicle from a Chevrolet dealership without paying tax. Regards,[redacted]
