[A default letter is provided here which indicates that the business has not responded to you directly If you wish, you may update it before sending it.] Revdex.com: At this time, I have not been contacted by [redacted] Truck Repair, LLC regarding complaint ID [redacted] Regards, [redacted] ***

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
The response from Mr*** does not contain an offer for resolution. Instead, Mr*** explained in his reply that he was indeed not qualified or equipped to repair the RV and had no business working on it. However, Mr*** did not - repeat: did NOT - communicate any of this to me or my son. Instead, he kept deferring and saying he was working on the RV. At one point, when Mr*** said he was certain that he diagnosed the problem correctly and determined what repair was necessary, I did verbally authorize up to $only to make the repairs, including parts. The $was not authorized for him to "search the Internet" or to experiment with the RV with repairs he knew nothing about. During the entire time I was under the impression that Mr*** was a qualified professional who was able to repair the RV and that his status updates were truthful when he continually said, "I'm working on it..."All of this could have been avoided if Mr*** had been forthright and truthful from the beginning and said that he's a diesel truck repair facility and does not work on RVs (or does not know how to work on RVs). But for him to accept our RV for repair, hold it for more than one month, do nothing to help repair it, and then to charge us more than $1k is dishonest, improper, and misleading. And now to create a story about how he was "trying" to fix the RV because we continually asked him to repair it, instead of sending it to a qualified repair facility, is just delusional. In fact, we did have the RV towed to Jim *** *** in Charlottesville and we spent nearly $2,to have it repaired and it was completed in two days. The ONLY reason we didn't take it there sooner was because Mr*** kept telling us (when we could actually reach him) that he was repairing the RV. Now we know it was all a farce and part of a larger plan to extort more than $1,from us. It is frightening to me that businesses like Mr*** are not just in existence, preying on innocent customers, but that organizations like the Revdex.com would lend their credibility to offer a rating that only further misleads potential customers.Regards,

Revdex.com spoke with [redacted].  The RV came to him as a referral.  Mr. [redacted] thought the RV belonged to the son who was the initial contact.  Mr. [redacted] business is commercial truck repair primarily although he does work on RVs.  He told the son initially that it would be 3-4 weeks before he could look at it.  Once he did, he saw that the parts are Workhorse brand which are difficult to find.  He began calling dealers in Richmond and was unable to locate parts.  He then searched the internet.  In total Mr. [redacted] spent at least three and a half hours searching for the parts needed to repair the RV.  He found that [redacted] in Charlottesville had the parts.  He estimated the repair cost would be at a minimum between one and three thousand dollars.  When he told the son he learned the RV belongs to the father.  Mr. [redacted] told the customer he should take the RV to [redacted] in Charlottesville for repair.  [redacted] can get it in right now. We are primarily diesel truck. I have access to the diagnostic material and might be able to repair it but am making no guarantees. If it needs programming I cannot do it..  The customer asked if Mr. [redacted] could figure it out rather than transporting the RV to Charlottesville.  Mr. [redacted] said he probably could.  He went ahead and ordered the part but it didn't fix the issue.  He couldn't program the computer and it became clear a new computer for the throttle was needed.  The customer said he had reservations in South Carolina that had cost him $3,000 and to just get it running.  Mr. [redacted] worked 15 hours on the RV and did not charge for that time.  His invoice was for the $1000 the customer authorized plus the $300 cost of the part he had to buy.  The Workhouse chassis was manufactured for about four years and is no longer made.  [redacted] serves the commercial trucking industry but does some mechanical work on RVs with a good success rate.  He attempted to do the repair at the customer's request and invoiced only for the authorized dollar amount plus the cost of the part he built.  He had recommended the RV be taken to another repair facility but the consumer asked that he try to repair it

Review: My RV would not start on June 19th, so I contacted [redacted] who sent a technician to diagnose the problem. They were unable to diagnose onsite and the RV was transferred to [redacted] Truck Repair at their suggestion. [redacted] Truck Repair held the RV for more than one month, insisting that they were working to solve the problem. During the month-plus that [redacted] was in possession of our RV, I attempted several times to follow up on progress being made and was unable to reach [redacted]. I left telephone messages asking for a return call and never received one. At one point [redacted] was reachable and the owner said he could solve the problem by replacing the "throttle actuator control module 8.11 GM", so I verbally authorized by telephone to spend up to $800 for the repairs to get the RV started and running. He also said he had not worked on the RV because it was too hot. Finally, on July 24th, [redacted] informed me that he gave up and was unable to repair our RV, despite the assurances he gave. Upon arriving at [redacted] Truck Repair to arrange for the RV to be towed to another facility, I was presented with an invoice for $1,192.71. The RV still did not start, so there was no change in its functionality from the time it was brought there more than one month earlier. The RV has since been towed to another facility where it was diagnosed and repaired in less than two days. The part [redacted] claimed to replace was not part of the problem. It would seem that [redacted] held our RV hostage, unable to even diagnose, let alone repair it, so that he could ultimately attempt to justify charging us an outrageous ransom to retrieve the RV. As we understand from [redacted], he gave up on July 24th because he was expecting a fleet of [redacted] trucks to come in for service and was no longer available to address our RV's problems. We addressed our complaint with the owner at the time we picked up the RV and he refused to budge, so we had no choice but to pay.Desired Settlement: We are seeking a complete refund of the $1,192.71. Clearly [redacted] was not qualified and unable to diagnose and/or repair our RV. He should have told us that from the outset and not accepted our RV for service. Furthermore, he should not have purchased or replaced a part that was not defective. He held our RV for more than one month and did nothing to change the status - it was not operational upon delivery to [redacted] and it was not operational upon pickup from [redacted]. Businesses should not represent themselves as being qualified to perform a service they are clearly unable to perform. Had [redacted] been honest about not knowing how to diagnose and/or repair our RV, we could have saved more than one month in time (requiring us to cancel a planned RV vacation) and a lot of stress.
