Review: I signed a contract with Bay Gas Company on 6/**/2011. The contract stated that they will supply me with a 100 gallon propane tank. There would be a $75.00 Tank Install and Leak Check fee and a ONE TIME $85.00 lease fee. They would supply me with propane as needed for $3.49 a gallon. (I have a copy of service order and invoice #[redacted] if needed). I was very happy with the service and even recommended a good friend of mine to use their service, as well (which he did). All was fine until October of 2012 when I received a bill with no explanation for $92.34. When I called to inquire, the customer service agent told me that it was for the lease of the tank. When I told her that I have a contract that clearly states that the tank lease was a ONE TIME charge, she basically told me too bad this is our policy. I wrote them a letter (dated 11/**/12 – a copy of which I can provide if needed) explaining how I felt that what they were doing was wrong. After I sent them the letter, the bills stopped showing up. I believed that the problem was rectified. On 6/*/13 my tank was filled (I have a copy of the receipt if needed). I paid my bill ($298.75) on 6/**/13. There was never any mention of a lease charge. Around October of 2013, I received another bill for $92.34 lease charge. Believing that I had already taken care of this matter, I did not pay. I never received a phone call from them, a letter of explanation, or any type of correspondence from them. I believe they think they can do whatever they want whenever they want with no fear of consequence. Sometime in mid to late March of 2014, they came to my house (when no one was home) and entered my backyard and removed a more than half full tank of propane from my premises. Again, no phone calls, correspondence, nothing. I called my salesman [redacted] as soon as I realized my tank was taken (after I turned my BBQ on and it wouldn’t work I went to check the tank and it was gone). He told me he had no idea what was going on and he would inquire and call me back. I had to call him again three days later before he returned my phone call. He told me it was because I did not pay my lease fee. I told him my contract clearly stated it was a ONE TIME fee he said too bad. I explained to him that the tank had approximately 65 gallons of propane in it so they owed me $226.25 (65*$3.49). He told me that I would not be getting it back because that went towards the lease fee that he claimed I owed them. I explained that you can’t have it both ways. If you’re taking the lease fee then which was $92.34 then you still owed me $134.51 ($226.25 - $92.34 = $134.51) and you had to replace the tank since you charged me the lease fee. He stammered a bit when I presented this to him and the he said the rest was the fee to remove the tank. I was floored. I told him that I would not stand for this and that I would be reporting his company to the Suffolk County Department of Consumer Affairs, as well as, the Revdex.com and even taking them to small claims court. He told me to do whatever I felt but I was still not getting any money back from them. In addition to all of this, I still needed a new propane tank. I contacted [redacted] and they came to my house to install the new tank on 4/**/14. During the installation, the tech detected a leak in the lines and he would not install the new tank until the leak was repaired. Before Bay Gas took my tank there were no leaks. I am very diligent and I constantly monitor the gauge to make sure everything is operating OK. Bay Gas themselves performed a Leak Test when they initially installed the tank. This is no coincidence. When they removed the tank they must have loosened or jarred some connections. I now have to hire a plumber to test each of the lines that were working perfectly fine before Bay Gas removed the tank. Please let me know if you need anything else from me regarding this investigation. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I want of refund of $226.25 for the unused propane that was in the tank when they took it, as well as, all plumbers fees that will incur to discover and fix the leak in my gas lines caused by the removal the tank. If they wish to diagnose and fix the leak themselves I will accept that.

Sincerely,

Review: This company has a habit of doing a bate and switch method after filling your propane tank. I've had this problem with them once before. This time I spoke to a customer service rep named [redacted] on 6/*/2015, at 8 am in the morning. There was an agreement on the regular price I had been charged in the past for 50 gallons of propane. When the driver came out the next day, without my knowledge or permission he filled the tank 67.1 Gallons instead of 50, and wanted to charge me more money. I gave the driver a check for the original agreement. I notified the office concerning this. They were very nasty and uncooperative. I'm waiting to see if they will try to charge me the unauthorized remaining amount.Desired Settlement: I want to warn other potential customers about the unscrupulous practice policies of this business and a billing adjustment.

Review: Bay Gas Picked up our propane tank. (This was after they attempted to tack on a $90 annual charge that was not in our contract.) When my husband arranged for the pickup he was informed by the Bay Gas Service employee that we would be fully refunded for any propane left in the tank--the amount is $140. (between 1/2 to 3/4 tank) A couple of weeks went-- by no check. My husband called and left several messages and a Bay Gas rep finally returned his call leaving a a message stating that there was a $140 fee for picking up the tank so it is a wash and they do not owe us any money. We were never informed of any pickup charge whatsoever!!! Nor is it in our contract. If that was the case we would have kept the propane tank. After several phone calls and a letter to the [redacted] (he has never not once returned our call or even acknowledged our complaint) we still have not received our refund check of $140.Desired Settlement: $140.00 or return the propane tank with the same amount prior to picking up from our home

Review: I received a "lease renewal invoice" which states that the amount for the lease will be added to my account. there is no remittance associated with this mailing for the dollar amount. This is the first mailing I have ever received from them, and assumed the cost was being added to the fuel delivery that would ultimately be occurring. A few weeks later, I received an actual bill, this time with a remittance as well as a finance charge of $0.81 at the time of the mailing. Upon calling the "Bay Gas" they said that many customers have this issue with their mailing. This was the First time I'm dealing with this business and I was unaware that I needed to pay the FIRST mailing ASAP, nor was this clearly identified on it. I simply asked that the Finance charge be waived, & that I would be paying that "corrected" amount immediately. I was told that it WOULD be waived so I gave my credit card number to them to pay the amount of $54.26. A couple of days later when I looked at my bank statement, it showed that they instead billed me in the amount of $55.24. When I called Bay Gas back about this & spoke with [redacted], she said that she could not authorize the amount to be waived but would speak with her manager. [redacted] said that she would NOT waive the fee.

This is a completely underhanded billing practice that they are aware is going on and is simply unfair to customers.Desired Settlement: I wish to only be billed at the agreed upon, initial fee of $54.26 ( NO LATE CHARGE )

Review: I called Bay Gas Service in which I been using them for my propane gas deliveries over the last year and half and requested price on delivery in which I was quoted $2.99 and requested to have 150 gallons delivered to my residence and to bill my credit card in which I provided that info over the phone prior to the order. On 3/*/14 I received the delivery and the driver left a receipt showing they delivered 395 gallons filling the tank at a cost of $1,219.87. I immediately called the office and was told a [redacted] would look into this and get back to me. After several attempts of contacting them and still not being able to speak to management they charged my credit card for the full amount which was un-authorized. They said that when they took the order they didn't mark the receipt for the 150 gallons I requested and that there was nothing they can do. This has been the second time Bay Gas has done this in not delivering requested amount and just filling the tank. If they looked back I never filled this tank and take about the same delivery monthly.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the difference from the 150 gallons I originally ordered.

Sincerely,

Review: We received a delivery of propane gas and smelled a leak. When we reported the leak and requested a service call they said they would send someone out that day. No one came. When I called the next day I was told they sent the man to the wrong address. Meanwhile my husband located the leak and fixed it. Since we had gas leak out and they never sent a serviceman or called to inform us of their error, we felt we were being generous when we sent them half the amount of the bill. Now they are harassing us for the remaining amount and saying they want to come for the tanks. We have always owned the tanks and owned them when we had the previous gas company. I sent 3 letters so far to them and they have never responded to any of them and every time they call say they know nothing of them. I will be sending a certified letter this week to them with return receipt.Desired Settlement: We no longer want to do business with them. We want them to acknowledge our letters, accept their wrong doings and accept the partial payment because of the lost gas due to the leak that they never responded to. We want them to send notice that the gas tanks are our property.

Review: I have placed two phone calls to this company after being tailgated by one of their trucks from [redacted] to [redacted] yesterday. The driver was so close to the back of my car, it took my husband nearly twenty minutes to finally get a glimpse of the vehicle license plate number [redacted]. Luckily I did not have my two small children in the car with me at the time of the incident but the driver's actions should definitely not go unpunished. Unfortunately I did not have my phone on me and could not call the police to file a report of his erratic dangerous road rage.

He blasted me numberous times with his horn even though I was doing well above the speed limit the entire trip and there was traffic ahead of me (typical for summer in "The Hamptons")

The messages have been left at the office for the office manager "Sue" as I am not sure whom else to contact as this has never happened to me before. Please help!Desired Settlement: A letter of apology and acknowledgement from the business for their driver's representation of the company. They should be embarrassed.
