Bay Ridge Alpine Cinemas Reviews (2)

Dear Sirs:
2 days ago, on "wacky Wednesday", I purchased a ticket for a 3D movie at the Alpine Cinemas at [redacted] and was charged $8 instead of the $6 advertised fee. I was not informed of the price before purchasing the ticket, nor, was there any posting stating 3D movies are $2 more than what was normally charged in the past. Plus, my companion called the theather 2 days before and confirmed that all movies, including 3D, are $6 on Wednesdays. I was also handed a business card with my receipt that clearly states, "New York City's Best Kept Secret Bargain Wednesdays All Tickets, All Shows $6.00 No Upcharge For REALD 3D." The girl at the ticket box, I believe her name was "Roanie", told me to take it up with the manager.
When I asked for the manager, the girls behind the concession counter did not know who was the manager. Ricky and Zena were the only employees who had any inkling as to who was in charge. They, especially Ricky, were the only employees who were respectful, helpful, and showed any interest in diffusing the matter.
When I addressed the above discrepancy with your "manager", "Shaheen", he was rude, condescending, and refused to rectify the situation. I also brought the matter to the attention of your, "supervisor", Mike who, had a similiar reaction. "Ceasar", who is supposedly another manager was consulted but never appeared. It seems no one in particular is in charge. Nor, was anyone else willing to comply with NYS Statute 350: [redacted]: False advertising which states:
1. The term "false advertising" means advertising, including labeling, of a commodity, or of the kind, character, terms or conditions of any employment opportunity if such advertising is misleading in a material respect. In determining whether any advertising is misleading, there shall be taken into account (among other things) not only representations made by statement, word, design, device, sound or any combination thereof, but also the extent to which the advertising fails to reveal facts material in the light of such representations with respect to the commodity or employment to which the advertising relates under the conditions prescribed in said advertisement, or under such conditions as are customary or usual......
3. It shall constitute false advertising to display or announce, in print or broadcast advertising, the price of an item after deduction of a rebate unless the actual selling price is displayed or announced, and clear and conspicuous notice is given in the advertisement that a mail-in rebate is required to achieve the lower net price.
Another friend of mine, told me of a prior incident, whereby she purchased on online discount for movie tickets to the Alpine theather on which nowhere did it state online or on her print out of the transaction that that tickets were only valid after 10 P.M. She purchased the tickets for her and her 2 children (age 10) who are asleep at 10 P.M. Your establishment refused to honor the tranaction. I am now beginning to understand why other friends and aquaintances, most of whom live in Bay Ridge, refuse to frequent your theather.
I am sending a copy of this complaint to the Revdex.com.
